Anyone in their twenties would be to young to really see the VF. I think this was what was meant by young'un. People in their twenties are familiar with bands from many time periods

I'm 100 percent in support of the Femmes coming to 'roo this year! I've never seen them, so it would be a first for me - at one of my favorite places in the world.
Victor DeLorenzo: "Not quite sure what might happen beyond those two performances at the moment, but it will be a monsterous thing of beauty to see and hear us together once again in California!"
I have an idea for what should happen beyond those two performances.

I was deemed the biggest Violent Femmes fan in the UW student body by the student journalist writing them up for her Wisconsin music class project. As such, I was one of her interview subjects.
"(kdogg) excitedly described the Femmes as 'the rock 'n' roll home team.'"
Grew up fifty miles from their hometown. Own all their albums. Looking forward to seeing them a twelfth time.
I officially declare Dibs on their Band-A-Day write-up if they play Bonnaroo.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

The last time I had a chance to see the Violent Femmes, I missed out. It was Lollapalooza 06, and Sleater-Kinney (who I adore but had never seen) were playing their third-to-last show on their farewell tour at the same time. So I saw Sleater-Kinney. It might have been the right decision to make with that conflict... but I still kick myself over it, especially since they have since broken up.
I grew up with these guys. I was 11-12 years old when Nevermind came out and brought with it a sea change in music. When I started buying music, grunge was the meteor to hair metal dinosaurs. I was fortunate in that I'm in the media market of their hometown Milwaukee, and as such got exposed to them at the time when I might not have been living elsewhere. They were one of those bands that called out to me, that changed my developing adolescent music tastes in that they made me open to acts which were or leaned acoustic.
I saw them for the first time at the tender age of fourteen, when they co-headlined that Milwaukee radio station's daylong festival with Duran Duran. I had my first encounter with a truly intoxicated person that night in 1995. He was at the access point to our lawn seats, and stopping everyone who came through and asked if they were there for the Femmes or Duran Duran. If you were there for the Femmes, you got a "YEAH!" and a high five as you entered... if not, you got loudly berated. That guy got kicked out, but it still sticks out in my memory.
As I said, they're my local "rock & roll home team." They're just fifty miles up the road from me, so I was pretty much guaranteed to see them annually... from that 8th grade night at just my second concert ever up until my mid-20s when my boy asked me to be his Best Man at their show the last time I did see them. I've spent Memorial Day and the Fourth of July with this band, they packed the venue usually reserved for student open mic nights at our All-Campus party. They had a good run of being the band I'd seen live the most, and even nowadays are in a tie for third behind fellow Bonnaroo vets weezer & the Flaming Lips.
My first love was a girl I met at Model UN my first year of high school in a bit of a long-distance thing. I was not quite a month older, but she was a year ahead of me in school. It came to its necessary end on the overhead cable cars crossing that Milwaukee park along Lake Michigan. My date to the prom, who was born too soon while I was born too late, broke it off within sight of that same ugly lake mentioned in the song... all I can say is that it reminds me of me...
I've got roots with this band like few others. 2013 is a young year, but this is my frontrunner for the best news all year.
