LOVE the lineup. Its amazing. Only disappointed by no YYYs, TEED, or Cut Copy. But maybe we'll get one of those with adds. But there are already so many conflicts that I'm ok with no adds that I care about.
The hate that jam bands get on here makes no sense to me. I'd like to think he majority of us are "music" fans. So how can you dislike every jam band? What is so awful about it? I don't really understand...
I don't hate jam bands. I hate the fact that people feel that they are entitled to a 4 hour unopposed set to close the festival simply because it is tradition. I am not a jam band fan, however I have no problem with them being on the lineup, but I don't feel like they should headline because jam bands "built" Bonnaroo. They should headline because they deserve it.
I'm not upset because the sunday headliner is gone. I'm upset because it's gone and no sort of compensation was made. Last year had a huge name, two big names, and a small name. This year has a big name and a small-big name. Punch in the nuts if you ask me.

When did you get a look at the schedule? Which acts are playing on Sunday? Obviously we all assume Petty but who else?

Any chance The Roots are a late addition to the lineup? I know they played roo last year, and I've seen them live twice before...but they are an amazing live.
So, what are the acts on this lineup that have a reputation for putting on a fantastic live show (Obviously outside of the top 5 and a few obvious popular bands like mule, PTM, and t-shorty)?
I really enjoyed Local Natives both times I saw them. I had never heard of them before their Thursday set at Roo (2011?) and they really blew me away with their harmonies and just their energy in general. If you enjoy their music then do not miss them.

No one owes me any compensation, I was just expecting some jam band love from roo. Obviously I was being foolish. Did I say I was owed more jam bands? No, just that getting rid of sunday jam headliner and compensating with more jam on the undercard would have been nice.
And I mean the sunday JAM headliner is gone. Or is that not what you were implying? No I haven't seen the schedule, but I doubt Mule is playing sunday to close out the festival.

I doubt it.
Figured as much. Oh well, sick lineup even if nobody is added.
If you are into Jazz, I can understand someone hating Metal and/or electronic music.
I really hate hardcore/scream music. Not everyone can listen to that with open ear. Maybe a few bands, but not every band within that genre.
See that makes sense to me though. Scream music is very unique. There really is nothing unique, trendy, or gimmicky about jam bands though. That's why the hate confuses me so much. To love one rock quartet one day, and then hate Phish the next, seems inconsistant to me. But hey, what do I know?
When will people realize that there is a difference between "hating Jam acts" and "wanting Bonnaroo to switch up the Sunday Jam Headliner"?
Also, if you are just voicing your opinion about how you wish the lineup is different, why is it wrong of us to voice our opinion about how we think its damn near perfect?
Am I really trying to use logic on lineup day?
I never quoted you are anybody simply looking for something different. I'm specifically referencing people who say "so and so sucks" or, "I hate so and so". I think you missed my point, so I'd hold off on the logic for now .
I don't think I quoted you either, my statement was a general one.
Jimmy Fallon was involved in the lineup release, with Daniel Tosh on the lineup, is there a chance they'd add Fallon as well? If Fallon is there, The Roots could show up as well.

Jimmy Fallon was involved because he was at Roo last year (or the year before). I don't think it has to do with this year. The Roots are one of those bands that I think will be back at Roo but so soon not after last year.

Fallon and The Roots together at Roo!? Don't get me excited!!
This lineup is fucking amazing. What else can you really say about it? It is balanced very well and it is so ridiculous that the thought of the conflicts makes my stomach hurt.
You're probably right. I just tried to figure out a way to get The Roots back on the farm, wishful thinking.
Eugene Mirman was one of the phonebank people on the webcast... I really hope he's there in some way. A Bob's Burgers cinema tent thing with cast would be excellent.

Holy Ghost! was fantastic 2 years opening for Cut Copy. Walk the Moon have outstanding energy.
Well, Where is Furthur and Kanye????? but but but. suck a dick. never ever happenin.
on to the lineup. Great lineup, really good mix. Jamband scene was on its death bed in 05 (was great in the years leading up to that) so it neither a surprise or problem that they dont have a jam headliner. ill probably go back again this year. its not like 10 and 11 where i was turned off by the lineup.

i think its sad that the festival that built its entire foundation of its first 5 years on jambands has only one jamband on the lineup. I have been to every single bonnaroo. This is the uniquest/strangest lineup roo has released to me as a 12 year vet. I'm happy it has evolved. I always wanted it to evolve to be so diverse. But its too focused on current short term popular acts and miss quality gets for certain genres. Every festival has its feel based on the lineup and art instillations and festival experience whether it be a camping or day fest. Bonnaroo has seriously deviated from previous years history with this lineup. Bummed no major rock headliner I always enjoyed that part of the formula. It needs 3 top 25 additions and 4-6 top 50 artist additions.
I would love to see a Kristen Schaal standup in the comedy tent as well. I really can't wait for them to release the comedy lineup.
I think some of the comedians are on there already. We got Mike Birbiglia too. Probably doing a cinema tent Q&A for his movie.
Mike Birbiglia and I grew up in the same place. I'm very excited that he's going to be there. They usually release a longer comedy list a couple weeks after the lineup, yes? I've never done the comedy tent and I'd like to try it this year.
I could definitely see them doing a Bob's Burgers comedy set. Eugene Mirman, Kristen Schaal, and Jon Benjamin would be great.

It sounds like she's no loger doing stand-up. She got her Comedy Central special pulled by her request after bombing and said that she "used to be a stand-up" on Comedy Bang! Bang!
