I am guessing Ed Helms also performs in the comedy tent?
Maybe not. He's not much of a stand-up but it seems possible.
that doesn't mean much as daniel tosh is a pretty worthless stand-up and he's being billed like he's chris rock. he's not even very good at rehashing internet spam
Every year people talk about how Bonnaroo doesn't book enough "relevant" bands...can anyone please point out to me which jam bands are even remotely relevant? I'm sorry jam fans don't have a lot to look forward to this year but for the rest of us this is a much needed break. I don't even want to count how many times WSP has been booked at Bonnaroo in the 6 times I have been since 2005 (like 8), I know Phish has played like 4 shows...all of those could have been replaced by someone that I would have actually liked to have seen.
Relevant to what? Having a cult following that will travel long distances and buy tickets to a festival just to see one specific band?

Phish has played 3 shows @ roo, WSP has played 5 since '05. You may hate Jam bands, but at least their fans can count
and if 'those could have been replaced by someone that i would have actually liked to have seen', maybe you should of 1. gone to a different festival 2. start your own festival
I wouldn't be surprised to see a combination OAR, Lotus, Black Crowes, STS9 or even Bisco in the additions.
This x1000
Lotus or STS9 would reaaaally be a cherry on top. I mean, I'm seeing Lotus next week but still. I'm not a huge fan of Furthur, WSP, or any of those guys but I love my electronic jams.

Really hoped to see Furthur, in my wettest dream it was Jim James, Bobby, and Phil rockin superjam and Neil Young instead of Paul Govt Mule will have to scratch the itch. Overall though, very pleased with the lineup

Said it before, but Tosh's stand up is funny. Very funny.
But I doubt I'll spend any time in the Comedy tent, probably ever. Too much music to be soaked up!
i think its sad that the festival that built its entire foundation of its first 5 years on jambands has only one jamband on the lineup. I have been to every single bonnaroo. This is the uniquest/strangest lineup roo has released to me as a 12 year vet. I'm happy it has evolved. I always wanted it to evolve to be so diverse. But its too focused on current short term popular acts and miss quality gets for certain genres. Every festival has its feel based on the lineup and art instillations and festival experience whether it be a camping or day fest. Bonnaroo has seriously deviated from previous years history with this lineup. Bummed no major rock headliner I always enjoyed that part of the formula. It needs 3 top 25 additions and 4-6 top 50 artist additions.
The fact that you're so upset about the "lack of jam, maaaaaan" really makes me happy.
to the people that hate on jambands. you would not have Bonnaroo to attend without them so its kind of stupid to hate on it.
If the settlers hadn't massacred the native population of North America I probably wouldn't be sitting here today, but it doesn't mean I think genocide is a wonderful idea.
Jesus god I want to bang you over at that other board. Where you've been conspicuously absent recently, mind you.

his biggest success before tosh.0 was being the "tasty deal" guy on taco bell commercials for good reason
I'm dissapointed in the R. Kelly get he is forever shrowded in a weird controversy and he had radio hits but as a top 10 get i think they are riding the success of the D'Angelo surprise last year and thought it would be strong to get its biggest R and B artist since Al Green. R. Kelly will be a running joke at the festival. Tom Petty is a dissapointing book also. He is a easy get in the festival industry and already having Macca it breaks away from the one major classic headliner to two this year. We could have gotten a fresh classic act instead we repeat previous roo's classic acts. I enjoy Petty's music I just wish Roo would hold itself to the standard of being the biggest festival in the country and not resort to repeating classic acts so soon. The Who, AC DC, Fleetwood Mac, Prince, Roger Waters all great classic acts with major draws that could be fresh for Roo if possible to book why opt to repeat classic acts. I'm just surprised by the artists ranging from 10-20 spots its mostly indie and rap acts in past these bands weren't as highly billed or regarded.
You dummy. Seriously.
R. Kelly is the Pied Piper of hip-hop. He's the king of modern R&B. He has, literally, a laundry list of hits that are classics.

It's obvious to even a casual observer that you don't really understand how awesome Robert Kelly is. His catalog is as deep as he gets in your mom. (And that's not a mom joke -- I'd be honored if R Kelly got with my mom -- it's a serious line about his stroke.)
Well, Phish is awful. Even though I enjoyed that festival very much, they're horrible. Taking the late-night spot of another artist sucked. The fact there is so little jam on this is a small make-good for such a grievous error as that.
so the lineup in 2013 is making up for the scheduling of 1 band in 2009?

If this lineup was released, and it wasn't soooo darn juicy and stacked but rather full of garbage, mediocre music, I could maybe see a viable beef regarding the lack of jam bands. But the lineup is money, it will sell out the farm (effectively), and attract a mix of fans I'm really excited about sharing a weekend with. There are plenty of festivals with jam heavy top lines, go there while the rest of us do our d**n thang.

My love for funk, reggae, hard rock, and jam haven't been fafilled on this lineup yet. Additions have been good on filling in the genre gaps in the past.
I'm sure this has been said plenty already, but was still hoping for a little more metal.
I blame Europe. It seemed like every metal band I looked up as a possible for Roo was either playing a festival in Europe that week or was playing in Europe around Roo weekend.

Hey Jugs, outside of the top 3, do you think this is a more progressive Roo lineup than they usually have? Or are they still being too reactive? Honest question, just curious.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Yeah, all the big metal festivals in Europe are in June.

I feel like the excitement wasn't as much as it should have been because he'd been "confirmed" for so long, but guys...
Paul quacking McCartney.
No, I was excited. I was jumping around my apartment yelling "BONAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!" I didn't want to get my hopes too high before the lineup came out just in case he wasn't there. I am quacking pumped.
