Outkast is a headliner. An "unopposed for 2 full hours" headliner.
Think Eminem, but longer and better (THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!), not Beasties.
I agree. Outkast would be every bit a headliner. But what I'm HOPING (operative word here, so keep this in mind flanzo) is that they play a time slot on the What similar to what the Beasties played in 09.
I think people get too caught up in the what is/is not a headliner discussion. Does Bjork count? She is on the 'head' line of the lineup. One of 4, I'd say that makes her a headliner regardless of her relative popularity.
p.s. I hope that that is the last time outkast and the beasties are compared in any way with eminem's performance that year.
Keeping in mind this is all hypothetical, Outkast wouldn't play that same time slot (8:30-10:00). Unless they're doing a late night What (like Stevie/Jay-Z in 2010), they're probably going on anywhere from 9:30pm to 11:00pm if they're doing an unopposed set.
Bjork isn't a headliner, headliners play unopposed, but she's a pre-headliner and she deserves her slot on the lineup.

I guess I disagree, I'd consider her a headliner as much as the Beasties who were listed 3rd (or 4th if you count Phish as two). Being a headliner doesn't only mean they go unopposed (look at most other festivals schedules - often times the 'headliners' are opposed). Bonnaroo is special but that designation seems a bit silly: That headliners are the bands who play unopposed regardless of where they fall on the actual lineup. Beasties and Bjork are both on the head line of the lineup, therefore - headliners.
None of which we will get in the additions. Expect low-mid tier artists. Lineup is pretty stacked as is.

1- You've made my sig, we've come a long way, haven't we?
2- Same thing was happening to me (deleting posts, or the 19th page being deleted altogether). It's probably a proboards issue, it's happens once in a while.

Unopposed headliners are what separates Roo from other festivals, though (not saying in a positive or negative way, but it does separate them).
Most people agree it's the unopposed shows that "headline." A lot think it's top line. As long as you're in one of those two camps, it's acceptable at least. The people that are being idiotic are the "top 6" folks.
Whatever, this is an even older and dumber argument than the Kanye one.

The year the Beasties played Roo made a specific announcement of what nights the "headliners" would be playing. In that announcement they talked about Phish and Bruce. No mention of Beasties or Byrne. Because of that I've always argued that the headliners that year were Phish, Bruce, and Phish.
Though this isn't to say "everyone who thought otherwise was wrong" since everybody tends to have different headliner definitions for Roo. For me, I just always tend to go with the top 3 names as the headliners (though 2010 makes that a little more difficult of a strategy).

Was unaware of such announcement. I guess that makes it really fuzzy then. In the case of Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z does that mean there we potentially had two headliners in one night? Because I'd like to pretend that KOL wasn't really a headliner that year either way.

Makes sense, though i usually count the top 5, if you notice on their facebook page, they list: macca, mumford, petty, bjork, and wilco. Top 5 makes it a bit more flexible.
We don't really need another huge hip-hop add, and I feel like it's unlikely we end up with an add lower then 30 on the lineup b/c of the solid list they made. Big Boi not really playing any festivals is buggin me out though....
Big Boi is playing Summer Camp, but other than that yea he seems to be pretty removed from the circuit. summercampfestival.com/lineup/
I am just going by what klim posted despite me knowing that anecdotal evidence is usually terrible to support a point. Klim is usually a pretty solid poster, so I wouldn't expect him to just make things up to get a rise out of people.
Never happened. If I remember correctly, everybody wanted the show to continue.
Like I said, I was just going off what klim said. I wasn't at that show myself. Either way, I was just throwing out an idea. I am a follower in the batting order argument that I put forth earlier.
I wouldnt be surprised if we get some of these added: Frank Ocean, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Miguel, Tegan & Sara, Cold War Kids, Airborne Toxic Event, Imagine Dragons, Azealia Banks, Zedd.
I would love Tegan and Sara, but they will be out of country according to their tour dates.

Lotus has a new album and tour dates that end June 08 with nothing until EFF on June 27-30 (though the first year they played Thursday so I'd expect the 28th or 29th in this case). They aren't big but are gaining a good bit of steam with this new release. I think if they had one of the late night tents go (Conspirator <-> Lotus), it would keep a large number of flatbrimmers (and possibly myself) busy for the duration of the night.
Lotus would be a killer add. I expect a few bigger acts but mostly mid-level acts to be added. I am also excited by what Cafe acts they get. Cafe Where (By the back of the What Stage) has become one of my favorite stops for newer acts

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure klim was joking, and tacking onto the "snowballing of rumors" that was happening in this thread at that moment. Phil was on Which and Kanye was on What, so there is no reason why anyone would actually do that. I was at Sigur Ros -> waiting for Kanye that evening, so I cannot speak to that with certainty.
I didn't go in '08, so I am only going off what I have read from other people. klimfactor, what say you?
Sorry for the delayed response, but yes, I was being facetious. All that "Phil hate Bonnaroo stuff" drives me absolutely nuts. I was at the Phil show, but ultimately abandoned my friends there for Sigur Ros. There was no thrown Sanuk. I figured that was so over the top, like a lot of the Kanye-Phil stuff, it would have been obvious. That's the limitation to message boards, I guess. You can't see a grinning - or in the case of my reaction to the never-ending Kanye-Phil stuff - an annoyed-looking face.
