It might have something to do with how many people are adding the artists on the custom line-up page. Obviously they're not gonna list them in order of popularity but maybe they made adjustments based on the numbers. I don't think it's the first time they've done this, not sure how it would affect scheduling though.
Nas jumped up 7 spots, right ahead of Kendrick Lamar. Someone at AC absolutely got their ear chewed off by Nas's agent.
If so, and that makes sense, shame on AC/Superfly for caving. This isn't 1997. Nas was a big name then that's for sure, but he's by and large a has been. Kendrick is the here and now, and he rightly deserves his spot above Nas in my opinion.

Did you even listen to Nas' 2012 release? It was very good, not to mention his older stuff is among the greatest of all time. He might be the rap GOAT himself! Any speculation on the spot listing is just that, speculation.

I dont agree with that. Nas has like 7 or 8 platinum or multi-platinum albums? He is considered by many to be one of the greatest MCs of all-time in his genre. One of the first things that stuck out to me was how low he was on the line-up when looking at it.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

Forgive me then...i'm not super into the hip hop scene. I hadn't heard a thing from Nas in years other than him doing the festival circuit with Damian Marley. I had no idea he even had a new 2012 album. I still think that the lineup is mainly around buzz however, and Kendrick has tons of it, while Nas, to me, just doesn't.

I think buzz is important but someone that is considered one of the best all-time in his genre deserves some respect simply due to their resume. Kendrick Lamar is talented and is hot right now but he has a long way to go to be in Nas' league.

Not only was Nas' 2012 release received very well critically, it was also his 5th #1 album on the billboard charts. In addition, he's still playing, and selling out, much bigger shows than Kendrick Lamar. Add his legendary status into the mix and he definitely deserves billing over Kendrick Lamar. He is FAR from a "has been". With that said, I really like Kendrick Lamar a lot. His 2012 release was one of my favorite of the year. However, as already stated in this thread, he has a long, long way to go from attaining the success (on many different levels) as Nas.

No, it isn't the first time they've done this. They definitely did it last year and I believe I made a thread about it then too.
For the most part I would think that the schedule is already set. Most of these acts can only play on one or maybe 2 days. They have tour schedules in which they have to follow and take travel into consideration. It is not completely set but for those bands on a tight schedule I would say that their times are already set and that Roo builds around that with who is left over. They won't release it until it is completely done. I would think that they hold off on releasing the schedule bc they want to sell as many tickets as possible without losing sales to conflicts.

I get that. The original post was implying that artists moving up the lineup will change the schedule, when outside certain days some artists are playing, we don't know the schedule, so how would we know the effects of artists moving on the lineup?

How do we know most things? We don't. Yet we have no problem speculating on it here. Isn't that the point of a message board?
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
