What do you all think plays a role in the making of the schedule? Surely the artists other engagements play a pretty big role. Popularity obviously, but it's kind of strange when you have someone like wilco, who is so high on the lineup but ranked number 20 in likes on the bonnaroo app. Obviously only a small number of bonnaroo attendees take part in the app, but it still has to reflect something. Then you consider that someone like the tallest man on earth, who is noticeably lower on the lineup, has so many more views on YouTube. I wonder how they factor all that in.

Myself, and I'm sure most members of this board, hope the likes have absolutely nothing to do with scheduling . I don't want to sound like a snob, and I may be generalizing a little bit here, but it seems like the mass majority of the likes are coming from the type of people who would ask questions like "can you buy single day tickets? I only want to see Mumford & Sons" or say things like " Paul McCartney is too old and should retire, he's embarrassing himself" To each their own, and yadda yadda, but the like system doesn't accurately reflect the interest of the thoughtful, open minded, Roo obsessed folks you find around here. I'd just rather such things be dictated by people who have the festivals best interests in mind, and not people who are drawn to 1-2 artists and don't take the time to discover any other acts on the line up.
Alt-J conflicting with Purity Ring,Father John Misty, or Paper Diamond on Thursday would be pretty tough to take. (I feel like this one is bound to happen)
Friday is already looking crazy with Grizzly Bear, Passion Pit, and The XX. All are top 5 Shows for me, I'm really hoping for no overlap, but I would hate to completely miss one.

It'll be interesting to see what will happen with those three on Friday. My current guess is Passion Pit closing Which, Grizzly Bear closing This or That with the XX doing the first late night spot in the same tent. Which would cause you to miss at least part of Passion Pit or Grizzly Bear.
If wilco doesn't pre headline for Macca, I kinda feel like Grizzly Bear might be in that spot, or even better... GB--->Wilco--->Macca But that's just too perfect. Last year I did the Avetts->Rod&Gab in order to get pit for radiohead. I would be more than ok with camping right behind the pit all day at What if this happened, especially if The XX were LN! If I'm ok with missing FTP last year, I'm ok missing Passion Pit.
I know this may make me sound very geeky..but I really want to see weird al so I am hoping he doesn't conflict too bad or play too early for me to see. I am already assuming there will be a "I will at least catch the beginning or end of" arguement in my head when I see the schedule.

For me I think my biggest conflict will be Bjork vs whatever is up against her. She is probably the highest billed opposed act and perhaps my most anticipated as well. I see the likely candidates being Kelz, AnCo, Idol and PL. I would probably be the most upset if I had to miss Billy Idol.

im concerned about macklemore & ryan lewis...... the last couple of years the "flavor of the year" rap artists have gone up against some tough competition. in '10 it was kid cudi* vs. flaming lips doin dark side. in '11 it was wiz khalifa vs. mumford & sons AND lil wayne vs. bassnectar. in '12 it was mac miller vs. the beach boys with brian fcking wilson. now, usually the decision is very simple for me to make; but, this year i actually really wanna see "thrift shop" live. one of the guys im goin with is super pumped about their set and has been jammin a lot of their stuff and it seems like their set will be a great. fcking. time. i just hope its not against the bluegrass superjam. or anything else i can't miss.
NAHMEAN!?
*kid cudi is on a way different/ better tier than any/all other rappers mentioned in this post.

I'll see you there. If wilco has the slot before Paul I'll definitely be there all day.
This will be the first year out of the past 3 where my top 2 acts won't conflict with each other, and that's only because Macca is unopposed. So if Wilco doesnt conflict with either of Jim James sets, I'll be pretty happy. I get a bad feeling about a Wu Tang conflict though

David Byrne and St. Vincent is my worst potential conflict. I'm positive they'll be playing at the same time. I usually resolve this by seeing the person I haven't seen before (here, St. Vincent). But I've been a huge David Byrne fan since the late 70s. Also, I hear from a reliable source that St. Vincent is not only not a real saint, but she hasn't even been beatified.

Yeah they will definetly be performing at the same time. Together even. Conflict resolved.
I'm guessing the Sunday clusterfuck is going to be David Byrne & St. Vincent vs The National vs Tame Impala vs Swans vs Ed Helms Bluegrass Situation. No Sunday jam headliner could throw a wrench into the works though?
I think the late nights are going to be really tough this year. With Boys Noize, Four Tet, A-Trak, Pretty Lights, Paper Diamond, Porter Robinson, etc etc etc all going up against some stellar hip-hop and indie rock it's going to be a cluster.
Last year it was easy to catch Major Lazer, Big Gigantic, Flying Lotus, Skrillex, Big Freedia, etc etc etc without having to sacrifice much.
I expect some confusion, running, set-jumping, and dilated pupils. (Although I would love to see Dilated Peoples)

I'm not really sure if the likes/adds have any bearing on lineup placement. Heck, last time I checked Mumford had more likes/adds than Macca. Let that sink in for a moment.

The National/Tame Impala/David Byrne is horrible but I know I'm taking national. Hardest conflict for me that I see coming is 3/4 Death Grips/Japandroids/Father John Misty/? playing at the same time, this is the hardest barring a unpredictable conflict such as Jim James/Wilco/Nas

I'm worried about most of those, too. I need to stop looking at this thread before I get an ulcer.

My worst conflict situation would be if Weird Al is not playing a tent and only doing something in the Comedy Tent... it's not necessarily a conflict of band vs band, but like-- the logistics of the comedy tent suck so hard I know it would suck hours just to go through the lengths of getting in with a good seat.

I'm a huge fan of stand up comedy, maybe even to the point of having more respect for comedians than musicians. But I could never put myself through the time necessary to catch a headlining comedian at Bonnaroo. It sounds like it basically takes all day. I'm simply not willing to make that sacrifice, unless Bill Hicks was the headliner.

Agreed, he should be booked as a band. Evening set (They Are in Ohio the night before, with nothing booked afterwards until July.), hopefully not conflicting with Bjork.
