A very good friend of mine has just released a single for an upcoming EP being released in April. The band is called Big Name Actors, and they're located in Toronto. They've got a grungy sound, Give a listen and tell me what you think. soundcloud.com/bignameactors/built-a-bridge
This thread is for plugging music that was made by your friends no matter how good/shiztty you think it is. Because someone else on here may laugh their donkeys off at it or truly love it enough to give your friend $x for an mp3 or two. Have fun.
Another good friend of mine started a project this year where he records a song for all of his friend's birthdays and posts it on their FB wall. soundcloud.com/tony-tornado

Lol, I searched far and wide for a thread of this nature! So yeah, The singer/guitarist of Big Name Actors and I have been best friends since we worked at McDonalds when we were 16, and wouldn't let me play DMX in the break room, and through in some STP and changed the way I look at music forever. Since he left Halifax to become a struggling musician in Toronto, we've lost contact here and there, but he's always sure to update me when he's got new shiz on the go. Along with his most recent release mentioned above, here's a tune from their last EP, Dancing after midnight. Tell me if they suck, I won't cry for too long. soundcloud.com/bignameactors/built-a-bridge

The music is definitely nothing mindblowing, but it's not absolutely terrible. I believe the similarities between his voice/singing and Anthony Kiedis' may rub many folks here the wrong way though. Particularly the 15-20 music snobs that read and post in the Music- CDs and album reviews subforum. haha

I agree on his voice, but he was never a great singer, he's come a long long way. He's always been a great guitar player tho, anyone says the solo sucks on Build a bridge, I will be sure to fart in your general direction at brunch.
These are my friends from Little Rock. The white guys were previously in the band Romany Rye... They made it to the finals of the 2010 Rolling Stone contest (lost to the Sheepdogs I believe). They toured with Delta Spirit for a bit, and also Dawes.
The black dudes (singer/sax) are also a part of a local band here called Velvet Kente. Joshua, the front-man is pretty amazing.
The drummer (Josh) and lead guitar player (Judson) are brothers and life-long friends of mine.
Hoping they take off soon...They've got a great sound.

Very good friend of mine who I used to be in bands with is currently the drummer of this band, Aways Away. They're actually on Spotify and have been on local radio. Very New York rock/Strokes type sound. Let me know what ya'll think.
The youtube channel of some friends of mine and myself. All songs are self-produced and the videos were self-made, kind of taking off from the whole Pomplamoose videosong thing.

Quack it why not....it's not my friends band I'll just use this to shamelessly self promote my own shiz haha... I play drums with a classical style guitar player, Kinda like Don Ross? Idk...let me know if you listen...its instrumental but I think it's pretty cool. def a different style of music

I like this too. They reminded me of a number of different artists, but they aren't really "like" anyone else. Ya know what I mean? I would add this to my playlist.

Cool stuff, I like what you guys are doing. Definitely different, and not what I expected. I like People Watching People best.
My husband and his buddies started The Brotherly Love Band after one of their best friends and bandmates passed away. They gained a good bit of popularity in Alabama in the late 90s playing fests, bars, and the local music hall a good bit. They were offered an indie record deal, but the band broke up just before they signed. They reunited a couple years ago and have done a few reunion shows, and they're currently working on a new album.
My favorite song is "Long as I Can", followed by Sunny Day, Southern Spirit, and I Won't Be in Love. If you want to listen, I'd suggest you start with those. Can't Find My Way Home got a lot of airplay back then. Heaven's Light is a new one that my husband wrote, performed, and produced totally on his own in his home studio, and it's a different style than the others. He's planning on bringing the rest of the band in on it to do over though; the stuff they do together is like magic to me.
Here is a friend of mine...Would love to hear feedback and opinions...
Here is a link to his Facebook with more songs if anyone enjoys this, he is really starting to take his music seriously, one of my favorite songs is Wasted....Please check him out and like his facebook if you do. Also would love some honest feedback and anything else you wanna add....Please take to time to check him out...Hes releasing his first CD soon, so really trying to help him out as much as possible. Very talents, plays guitar and the piano and few more instruments....Lives in Charlotte/Chapel Hill

IDK where to post this but I just figured out how to make my E-kit work through my compute so if you have 2 minutes I'd love some feedback (yea I realize I'm walking into the wolf pack with this, yes I'm okay with it)

Ha! Not bad dude, you've got those drum rolls mastered. You should totally upload a Wipeout cover. I'd watch. That snare sound is super tight too, nice one.
If it's cool, I would like to shamelessly plug my musical excursions. The first one is sort of my one man jam/electronica project:
My buddy, Big Joe (seriously, dude is like 6'10"), has a band called Eli Pop. Their sound is of the lo-fi psych/surf/garage/Nuggets variety and are really good. They are starting to play the usual underground rock spots in Atlanta. One of the cool things they do is make videos for all of their songs and post them all on youtube. You can really get lost in the videos.

One of my high school buddies started this band. They have an EP out that is available for free on their soundcloud as well. I was honestly surprised by the quality of their music didn't think anyone I knew personally could come out with music I would enjoy. Anyways I think they are awesome hopefully you all will enjoy it too.
