So turns out there was a whole lot of new releases which came out today. Not sure why it all fell today instead of the normal Tuesday.
Generally if the last day of a quarter (usually Sept, Dec, March, June) ends on a Monday, the labels will push out a bunch of stuff a day early for extra sales in the quarter that's about to close.
So this is a good point for people who already voted. The following albums were officially released today so are September albums:
Justin Timberlake Phantogram HAIM Moby Blitzen Trapper Lorde Dr. Dog Deltron 3030
Dr. Dog has October 1st as the album release date on their website, as does Metacritic. Can we move Dr. Dog to October?
Arctic Monkeys - AM - 4 (monster, Chico, boneroo, onion) Clear Soul Forces - Gold PP7s - 4 (Zapp (yawn), flanz, mr. moss, garageland) Volcano Choir - Repave - 4 (Druid, glennron, Fuzzy, juggs) Man Man - On Oni Pond - 2 (Billadelphia, fearofpride) CHVRCHES - The Bones of What You Believe - 2 (me, chicken) Nine Inch Nails - Hesitation Marks - 2 (PMO, jfg108) MGMT - MGMT - 1 (jakicker) Jessy Lanza - Pull My Hair Back - 1 (NoD) Janelle Monae - The Electric Lady - 1 (Sang) Youth Code - Youth Code - 1 (Dave) Neko Case - The Worse Things Get... - 1 (cokes) London Grammar - If You Wait - 1 (CKS) Vattnet Viskar - Sky Swallower - 1 (Lowerdeck) Moby - Innocents - 1 (Phi) Bill Callahan - Dream River - 1 (NoAge)
So many decent albums this month. And while I am still in love with Janelle Monae and really like her album, there was just enough unevenness to let this one slip in and take the vote:
Jessy Lanza | Pull My Hair Back
PS: I predict her as the MOEMS TBD slot for Friday
They are touring with TV Ghost right now. Check out their new album that also came out in September.
Funny you mention that. I had not heard of TV Ghost until last week, when I heard a song from their newest album. Liked it so much, it prompted me to discover their two previous albums as well.
Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Korn... Anything else I should look out for in October? Anyone have a list of new releases?
On a serious note, it's going to be difficult keeping up this month.
Here's some:
Fall Out Boys (EP but it's with Ryan Adams, so it counts) Lee Ranaldo Patty Griffin Darkside Tim Hecker Sepultura The Avett Brothers The Head and the Heart Pearl Jam Four Tet Fuzz Unknown Mortal Orchestra Arcade Fire Laurel Halo Best Coast Dismemberment Plan Paul McCartney A$AP Mob Lucius Cults Crystal Antlers Sleigh Bells RJD2

October has already been decided.
I'd like to agree, but I've learned my lesson about deciding too early. I have high hopes for it, but the previously unknowns have been shining brighter than the the albums I've been anticipating for the most part this year. I'm really looking forward to Tim Hecker, Fuzz, Darkside, The head and the Heart and The Avett Brothers should both be good. I love Pearl Jam, but I feel their best days are behind them. Then there's Sleigh Bells, Of Montreal, Dale Earnheardt Jr Jr and Pusha T, along with the many I don't know about yet.

The new Cass McCombs is my early October favorite. I don't think it will be my pick for the month. I just hadn't seen it listed in recommendations thus far.

Only listened to it once so far, but I like the new Sleigh Bells.
I love how you people are acting like anything else besides My Name Is My Name stands a chance.
It's my favourite of the October releases thus far. I have already ruled out Pearl Jam (no surprise there) and Sleigh Bells as contenders. Pusha T is another artist I've not listened to before now, Numbers on the boards was the track that made me take notice.. Still lots to go through this month tho.
