Note: I still think LLL should not be in the runoff this early. Her, Mike D, and Quacker are all players that I think are valuable to have around at least into round 2.
EDIT: I don't know why anyone would disagree with me on this point unless they were mafia and wanted to kill off an experienced player early.
quiet a statement. I have nothing against killing experience early, in fact I often try to eliminate the biggest threats early if I don't have anything else to go on. I operate on the idea that a really good mafia is more dangerous than a really good towny is useful
Odysseus and Hakuna, care to explain why you wish to keep your vote on LLL?
Sure. I voted for with voting partner in mind. I went to bed and bacon still hadn't voted, I didn't feel a need to 'shake things up' til he had. I didn't have time to post before work this morning, which brings me up until now. I'm not locked in by any means. At this point I could switch to EAP, who you switched off to move Bacon in. Phi, who basically falls into your same reasoning for keeping LLL out. Or one on the noobs(Boneroo included). While I don't find it too suspicious, out of all those options, your trying to keep LLL sticks out the most. I'm not really sure if you are trying to keep her alive or get the votes moved elsewhere. Like I said open to moving, but i cant help feel a little bit like in getting walked into a trap. And now with you in the runoff and still pushing for it, it sort of sounds like you may want some one in there that you stand a better chance against and i think EAP or the noobs qualify as that. I believe you did this push to keep alive thing with me a game or two ago and I'm not really sure what you angle is with it. It seems to me like it has or will get you into more trouble than its worth you.

First, I was pushing for LLL to be out of the runoff before I got stacked into it. Naturally, I want to survive beyond round 1 like anyone else who signed up for the game, but that's not my main motivation at all.
Second, a townie usually gets killed in the first round, so I'd rather insulate players that I think are strong. It's as simple as that.
Edit: Third, I'm voting for Bacon, not EAP. So I'm not sure where you're going with that.
1. My bad, poor choice of wording, I know you we're doing it before you were include. I though by saying still I was making that known. 2. Understandable, but for me with so little to go on, I tend to echo Bacons sentiments in this case. 3. Not sure what you mean here, I said in there you switched off EAP for Bacon.
I can understand what Jimmyroo is saying because I also like hearing what LLL has to say and I can also understand the rationale that it doesn't matter. It also puts a target on Jimmy for being so vocal about keeping LLL. I don't know if the Mafia would be so blatant about getting EAP out and putting Bacon in. But it might be a ballsy move you are more likely to make if there are two Mafia in the runoff. I don't recall many games where the first day runoff involved two Mafia. Most games I play seem to be all Townies involved. Thoughts?

<Chirp chirp chirp> Quiet in here. Not really sure what to make of that, I understand its the weekend(which is why I wanted to get a post in now, bout to start drinking). A lot of the time quietness means the mafia is ok with the runoff, but then again this game feels little off and like there is something different about it, so who the hell knows. Like I said before, I'm not too suspicious of LLL other than her connection to Jimmy. I really think it was more of Jimmy wanting someone else in the runoff than wanting LLL out of it. I'd like to see what other people have to say, especially the ones not voting for any of the 3, before I switch though.
Not surprising as Phil and jimmy are both amped up for me.
And yet he ended up taking you out of the run-off and instead putting Bacon in.
Playing off of something Bacon said, there are certain players I like to make sure end up in run-offs when I am Mafia, and best believe that, especially in the first round when it can go by virtually unnoticed, that the Mafia have the power to control the run-offs and vote offs. No voting associations have been made yet, everyone is equally suspicious, etc.
That being said, Mafia is pretty comfortable with this runoff it seems. We'll see how the voting ends up shifting, and that will show us more.
Bacon made a good point about the pros outweigh the cons of running off experienced players. I'm one who also leans toward this thinking, Im also paranoid that everyone is out to get me, and the smarter people will be a lot more stealthy about it. on that note, I feel phi is right about him likely not being mafia, but I dunno if he was right about him not being smart enough to pull that shit on purpose. so I dunno,
Jimmy seems to be the opposite of bacons theory, and may be campaigning a little too much for LLLs to not be in the runoff. There's no way you can be that sure of someone's position this soon with so little to go on. Makes me think theres a connection, but would mafia really be that transparent? I don't think so. It's too early to fuck around like that, especially when people are looking for any little hint or clue to attach any theory to another player. So I dunno
LLL put a vote on me, but It seemed like a random selection after fudging up her first vote, and I'm not petty and thoughtless enough to just throw a vote on her just because of her putting a vote on me. But the notion that Quacker brings up about mafia content with the runoff, could be displayed in her comment " seems like a fair enough runoff". But again, too obvious.
My thoughts so far. EAP bouncing between Bacon and Jimmy is not too surprising. I don't read much into it because I don't think it says much except "I'm always at odds with Bacon and Jimmy". I guess of the 3 there I would to say the most suspicious is Jimmyroo due to his desire to manipulate but he did it so heavy-handed that I find it hard to believe he is Mafia. I do know that Bacon would be smart enough to feign ignorance that the game started as a ploy to deflect suspicion. LLL has been vocal and it seems like she was targeted. For now I'm just going to even things up but I'm open to changing.
Tally would be nice. Not like I'm changing my vote off Bacon though.
Boneroo, you really oughta go back and read some previous games. Although I don't think anyone would dispute im playing exactly like I always do (have been a townie in literally every single game). I don't see what I'm doing that's more suspicious than other games.
And let's be real- if I was mafia, this would be my first game as mafia. You think they would let me do this to myself? Do you think after 10 games I'd be dumb enough to do this to myself?
I just like to be polarizing as a townie to get discussion going and see who likes to pile on votes for an easy target. A townie usually dies in the first round anyway.
I was actually doing some reading earlier, but it was of another game that you ref'd jimmy. Lol, going back further into the crypt now.
I don't mind your aggressive style, as it is necessary to provoke dialogue at times. It was your sticking up for LLL that raised a flag for me, but as I said, I don't think you'd be that foolish if you were mafia. It's just the only thing I could go on. Any things possible I guess.
Not a serious thought here, but wouldn't the law of averages suggest you are long over due for a game as mafia?? :p
Just to clarify for newer players, and refresh for older ones, every ref has their own unique way of assigning roles. Some handpick roles, some are semi-random, and others like myself are completely random.
As far as my method, I do the following:
I plug both the numbers and the names an online randomizing program. First, I randomize the names 10x blindly so there is no correlation to the original numbered list. I then reassign numbers to names, and then randomize just the numbers 10X blindly in order to remove any possible personal bias I would have in assigning a person a role. I then add the players names that were attached to the numbers prior to sorting them in the new order, and renumber.
The first three are mafia. The 4th is the inspector and they receive the name of the person in position 1. Numbers 5-11 are assigned the role of townie.
This is basically the same method I have used and will continue to use every game I ref, with a few minor tweaks to ensure I assign roles blindly. As I said, other refs select or choose mafia differently.
