We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

So far just going through the LPs, my shortlist has:
Art Blakey & the Jazz Messingers Munich '59 LP (unreleased concert, 1st time on vinyl) Calexico Spirtoso (LP + CD, Live tracks, previously only available on tour on vinyl) Cure Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me Individually Numbered, Red Vinyl LP Cut Copy Bright Like Neon Love Gatefold LP w/3 art inserts (1st time on vinyl--4000 copies) Dead Can Dance Anastasis: Live in Concert (Best of 2012) 3LP Set (2000 copies) Frightened Rabbit Midnight Organ Fight (Special RSD edition reissue) LP Genius/GZA Liquid Swords—the Chess Vinyl Edition (Contains the entire Liquid Swords album and complete instrumentals as well as a in-depth, full color linear notes with contributions from GZA himself and a full-sized chess set) Grateful Dead Rare Cuts & Oddities 1966 180g 2LP, individually numbered. John Coltrane Newport 61 LP (Previously unreleased July 1st recording at the Newport Music Festival) Miles Davis Milestones 180g Mono LP, individually numbered Miles Davis 'Round about Midnight 180g Mono LP, individually numbered Miles Davis Someday My Prince Will Come 180g Mono LP, individually numbered Miles Davis The Kinda Blue Sessions '59 LP Nick Drake Nick Drake Limited Edition gatefold heavyweight LP w/poster, remastered at Abbey Road. (4000 copies) The Roots Things Fall Apart 180g 2LP (features "Riot" cover and was the debut of Eve) (4000 copies) White Stripes Elephant re-issue on colored vinyl
I really want that GZA Chess edition, but it would probably eat up most of my RSD budget.
Oh yeah - there's no way I'm going to be able to afford all the ones I want - that's just the list I'll carry and see how many I can cross off before I hit the limit.

Yeah, I always have a long, unrealistic list. Priorities change based on prices, too. I'm not dropping $15 on a 12" with a remix on the B-side.
On the 20th, independent record stores have a small selection of these releases. Some are exclusive to RSD, some are limited release, some are just 1st or early release. First come, first serve.

Most of these stores have quite a crowd, and they show up early. There is frequently a line prior to the store opening. I've waited up to 45 minutes to get in, and that time was about the 30th in line.

Wow wow! Thank you for posting this, I am so excited! So far the only things that made me jump were the nick drake gate fold, and the grizzly bear HORN OF PLENTY REISSUE!!!!!! Also the sigur ros release!
Wow-so is there any way to know ahead of time which stores will have which records?
If you go on the site I linked, you'll see who is participating. However, they don't even know what they will get for sure until the shipment comes. They request what they want, and sometimes they get everything, sometimes just some of it. From what I've been told anyway. It's like Black Friday for music lovers.
Come to think of it, they also do it on Black Friday.

Haha-ok, thanks for the info! I have to work all day 4/20, but I might try to talk my parents into getting into the mayhem for me - we'll see how that goes

Anyone have more info on how the Flaming Lips Zaireeka is going to work? The original was four CDs meant to be played simultaneously, but this is for 45rpm LPs. Is it remixed or abbreviated or what? About 1% chance I buy it, but I'm still pretty curious.

If I had a record player, I would have to buy this despite not having the money. I would make it a fine steak dinner, lay it down by the fire and make sweet, sweet love to it.

Want to grab that White Stripes. I need to go through and see what will be limited and what won't. I hate spending money on stuff that I can buy two weeks later (sometimes cheaper). I coulda saved a good amount the year they put Wilco: Kicking Television on vinyl if I did more research and knew it'd be available after.

Seems like a novelty that one could never really cash in on. At least not without some serious work.
