Attending football games has absolutely nothing to do with being a fan, sang.
so being a fan your entire life and going to games doesn't constitute being a fan? interesting.
Read the words that I type and don't put any in my mouth, sang.
Attending football games does not make you a fan. People go to games because they're social events just as much as they do because they're huge megafans of the team. I didn't mention anything about "being a fan your entire life."
You used your attending Clemson football games to somehow act like you're more of a fan of them than Jimmy is of the Giants since he doesn't attend games (which might not even be true, I don't know). There are people who never attend a game, but spend decades following a team. Attending games doesn't make you more of a fan than someone who doesn't.

this is more of a college football thing between emoney and I. not sure why he posted it here. this guy claims to be an LSU fan just because he spent a summer there. while I've been going to Clemson games since I was 8 and somehow I'm not a fan because I didn't go to college.

I've been rooting for LSU for over half my life. Getting my student ID allowed me to graduate from T-shirt Fan to Real Fan.

hey meow! david wilson has shown none of the toughness of ahmad bradshaw
-completely unbiased thundering herd alum
Bradshaw played like 3 games this year? And its hard to predict a second year RB without much of an injury history having a vertebra knocked out of place. Granted, he played like dogshiz this year. But Wilson was coming off a rookie season where he had a 5.0 YPC and 6 TDs.
Have you been waiting all year to make that post? Or do you just have an infinite amount of time to read through this 60+ page thread about football on a bonnaroo forum?
lol i just found this board recently, and inadvertently clicked the first page of the thread the other day instead of the most recent. but my eye had already fallen on the bradshaw/wilson post so i was morally obligated to say something.
ahmad had to have neck surgery, so he and wilson both ended up in bad situations.
Speaking of types of fans, I have a theory that people in the South tend to lean (far) more heavily into NCAA fandom than the NFL. In other words, people from the South tend to prefer college football over professional football. People from the North tend to lean (slightly) more towards the NFL than the NCAA.
I am the only one of my close friends who prefers the NFL. These guys are batshit about college football. Any college football: Random Thursday night games, any random unranked match, etc.. They all have their favorite team, MOSTLY a school they went to, but not necessarily. One guy is even a hardcore Southern Miss fan, and they haven't won a game since 2011.
I've never cared that much for college football. I have no alliance with a school. For the two years that I lived in Gainesville (during Tebow's final two years), I was a pretty big Gators fan, but that changed as soon as we moved.
So, what general region of the US do you consider yourself and which do you prefer out of college football and the NFL?
In the Northeast, the NFL is much more popular than college football. Between DC, Baltimore, Philly, NYC, Boston - there is no slight lean towards the NFL. It's a massive gap.
Then again, there's no college football programs of note north of Richmond and east of the mountains. You can have a team with moderate success, like Rutgers, but certainly not contending in the top 15 year in year out. When there's no consistently winning teams, and no built history or large fanbases of local schools - people are going to check out. There are probably more Notre Dame fans in Massachusetts than any school besides Boston College, and even BC's debatable.
When you have professional teams in such close proximity that tend to be successful, people are going to gravitate towards that. (Except the Jets and Eagles, their fans are just masochists.)

Seattle's Legion Of Boom is taking a hit losing Browner and Thurmond to PED suspensions. Reports say they are bringing in former Niner Perrish Cox to play corner.
I've recently come to the conclusion that the Giants must draft a QB with its first round pick this year. The Giants are only on the hook for 1 more year w/ Eli and after next season is over he'll be a 34 year old QB with maybe 2 serviceable at best seasons left in the tank. I hope Jerry Reese is smart enough to recognize the obvious and take advantage of the deepest QB draft in a while. Paging Derek Carr. Derek. Carr.
Okay, what does everyone think it'd cost to trade up to the top-2 picks this year and nab Teddy Bridgewater? Because that is not the irrational thing I am going to root for all offseason.
I think bridgewater goes #1 and you'd have to yank that winning lottery ticket out of Gus Bradley's dead grip. If I was Jacksonville I wouldn't give it up for anything.
BUT THEY HAVE CHAD HENNE!
My worst nightmare is the Jets drafting Johnny Football.

The Jags don't appear to be taking a dive for the rest of the season. They could easily have let the Brownies win that game yesterday, but fought back.

I think the Texans might be diving lower than the Jags this year and they are/should be on the QB hunt.

Yeah, they are still riding the ten game losing streak. They gave the Pats a good game yesterday. Redskins, Vikes, Bucs all have three wins and there is a total of 16 teams with five or fewer. Out of the three win teams Houston, Jax, and Minnesota should all be looking at QB.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.
We might lose by 30, but Seattle (specifically it's defense) has no class. They are disgusting. I've lost all respect I had for that team prior to this game, with the exception of Russell Wilson and Lynch. Great team, but zero class.
