Vic Beasley is going to the draft. He's the type of player Rex Ryan thinks about when he touches himself at night.
I could see them taking Vic 18th. at least Stephone Anthony is staying. if he left we would be losing all 3 lb's, both corners and Vic. now at least we'll have a 4 yr starter in the middle at lb.

I think 18 might end up being a liiiitle high for him, but I honestly don't put too much stock into pre-draft big boards. They get the general placement close enough, but if Vic is #30 on Kiper's (aka Dark Helmet) board, I don't get upset if the Jets take him at #18.
I think this is the year they have to bring in some skill position players on offense, but Vic is rather beastly and throwing him on the front seven with the other young guys the Jets have would border on unfair.

I would expect the Jets to go for somebody on offense too since that was the most common criticism I saw of them this year especially since Rex probably has to get results this coming year or lose this job. Whoever takes Vic will end up pleased with him though. I wrote him off a little at first because I figured it was another example of Sang being a cheerleader, but he has looked good in the games I have seen with him.

he'll need to get bigger. he's amazingly strong and fast but he weighs like 220.

His performance against South Carolina stood out to me. Clemson lost, but Beasley literally tried to kill himself to win that game. It was the hardest I've seen someone play probably all season.

all you had to do was look at his stats. he led the nation in sacks most of the year, the only reason he didn't finish on top is we played 2 option teams in a row and you don't get sacks against them.

Could you see him doing a transition like Pollack where he moves to an OLB in the NFL?

Beasley has a frame that could easily support more weight. It'll take him a while to put on weight so he probably won't be to his true NFL-weight until his second season.
I think at 6'3" and 245 he can easily play 3-4 OLB. 3-4 OLB and 4-3 DE are the same position, just standing up vs. hand in the dirt.
Damn it, man. I already told you the answer to this. This is the same site that had a story about Rick Santorum funding a heterosexual remake of Brokeback Mountain. The headline below this one right now is about Canada legalizing medicinal cocaine, and we all know Boner would be rubbing that in our faces if it was true.

Why wouldn't someone want the Texas job? Oh yeah, donors like this "Red McCombs: "I don't have any doubt Charlie is a fine coach. I think he'd probably make a fine position coach, maybe a coordinator.""
Also, will Louisville's re-hire of Petrino blow up in their face?
In other news, James Franklin's toast. I was musing with a friend whether Vandy fans burn couches. That's how good Franklin was for the program; they actually have a reason to burn a couch.
Eh. Kiffin is a hell of a recruiter, at least. We totally need the help in that department.
I'm assuming you're a Bama fan. If that's the case, I totally disagree that you need help in the recruiting department. Yeah, yeah..."we lost some great players and need to reload" blah blah blah. Saban consistently has depth and talent. Kiffin likely won't enhance that.
As mush as I hate Kiffin, though, I'll give him this: he took a QB at Tennessee (Jonathan Crompton) who the year before didn't look like he could tie his own shoe, and turned him into a contender. I think that's what Saban sees.
Either way, Kiffin back in the SEC should provide plenty of press fodder and rivalry stoking. Win/win, right?
It may be a great hire for Saban. It may not. All I know is, despite having no shot on paper more than likely, Bama just once again became the biggest home game of the year.
I do love that this hire seems to have generated two very strong polar opposite reactions. It seems like everyone is "LoL Bama" or "STOP BELIEVING ESPN'SLIES! KIFFIN IS THE BEST HIRE EVAH!!!@!@!!!!"
Sooooooo is there any way that this isn't the announcement of Franklin getting hired? Also, it is a sad fucking day in Vol Nation when I am excited at the prospect of Vandy's coach getting hired away.
