if you dont like rap (wu tang) or EDM (wolfgang) there is only one other option (ZZTop). this is going to be crazy packed..I wish they were on which in the day around 3
As much as I enjoy ZZ Top with the way they're scheduled I just don't see them bein' a hugely crowded set. Maybe I'll be wrong though. Sure I'd rather they had a What or Which day time set, but alas.

Mule is one of the "old guard" standard bonnaroo bands like Widespread Panic, Galactic, and Les Claypool. My assumption by now is that they get to pick where and when they'd like to play. ZZ Top will be fine right where they are. I'll be there for at least some of their set.
ZZTop will be fine in a tent. Their drawing power isn't what it used to be. For example they are coming through Tampa this summer opening for Kid Rock. It's hard to believe they once headlined stadium shows regularly.
I think Govt Mule gets to play Which stage but ZZ Top.....A blues-rock band that made it mainstream.....in a tent...
Oh well, at least some of us know how important ZZ Top is.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Warren Haynes come out and jam with zz top or billy to jam with gov't mule.
Warren Haynes loves to have guest play with him, and he and Billy gibbons have played together quite a few times. plus their styles just sound so good together. I'm really excited about these possibilities.
plus Billy Gibbons played on a Gov't Mule track from a few years ago:
I am SO PUMPED for this set. Heartbreaking conflict with Wu-Tang on at the same time but I figure the Clan is going on late for sure. Should be able to catch a good majority of ZZ Top hits and still catch the tail end of Wu-Tang. McCartney to ZZ Top to Wu-Tang is going to be a night-long parade of hits.

This is why I'm not missing Gov't Mule.
But I've seen ZZ Top before, and wasn't impressed with their live show (it wasn't "bad", just pretty boring imo). But if Billy sits in with Mule, that's something I'd like to see. I wonder who else might sit in with Mule.
Looking at who's playing Saturday and I'm not seeing many good candidates. Marco Benevento, Dwight Yoakum maybe. I'd really like to see Sir Paul, but that's a huge longshot.
I've seen ZZtop 3 times...first concert I ever went to back in 1974 and they were all good shows, but for some reason I'm not as excited about them as everyone else is. Guess I'm just weird (oh, I'm just figuring that out?)
I'll be at ZZ Top, although I hate to miss Wu-Tang. I think the tent works for them. Popularity-wise I see them on the same level as Alice Cooper. Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, genre innovators, but not really a massive draw for the college age kids that make up a ton of Bonnaroo's audience. Alice's crowd was good sized, but not overcrowded. I suspect ZZ will be the same. ZZ gets some bump from people getting a spot for AnCo. Alice had to anchor for himself because people couldn't get out of that tent fast enough once Unchained hit the stage.

Hey! I'm a college age kid that is drawn to ZZ Top......I will admit the draw started with my 58 year old dad telling me about them though.
