Our culture uses cunt as freely as it does dick. Neither are gender specific at this point. I (like most Americans) have been called both. Also, you still owe me a beer.

Uhhh, I sent you 3 PMs attempting to determine a meeting spot to get you that beer and you ignored them?

Just because I call a male a "cunt" does not mean it's no longer gender specific.
It looks like I waited too long to post my official Kanye at Roo statement. The conversation has already moved onto racism and sexism. Here it goes anyway: My overall reaction is a feeling of dissapointment. I am dissapointed that stage setup wasn't more impressive. I am dissapointed that he didn't use the side screens. I am dissapointed there weren't more Yeezus songs. I am dissapointed he was so negative with his rants about Bonnaroo, acted like a man who just wouldn't let it go, and just sounded ridiculous. (When I acted like that as kid, my dad used to say I was acting like a boy with a paper butthole. Not sure what the meaning is behind it, but that's how Kanye acted.) I am dissapointed that I am the biggest Kanye supporter in my group of friends, been talking him up for so long, and they all hated the performance. I am dissapointed that Kanye didn't bring the charming, likable Kanye that I saw on the Yeezus tour. I am dissapointed that it seemed like that anti-Kanye sentiment on the farm grew last weekend. I am dissapointed that he didn't win over the farm and redeem himself with the Bonnaroo concert goeers. I am dissapointed that the Kanye conversation on Inforoo isn't of joyous celebration of his set.
I firmly believe if everybody at Bonnaroo were given the Kanye show I saw in Atlanta, that he would have won over all but that the most close minded and ready to hate people. I know this hard for the people who weren't there to understand, but the difference between Jack White and Kanye's attitude was night and day. Not only that, it felt like Jack removed some of the tension that Kanye caused. Leading up to the set, I was high fiving folks with supportive Kanye shirts. I was walking up the people with anti-Kanye gear and letting them know how great the show is going to be. My favorite thing I saw when I pulled on the farm was the "Yeezus has risen" tag on the wall. Generally, I think his rants are funny. He even cracked me a little last weekend, but for the most part I thought he was an a-hole. I was hoping for better and I was hoping everybody was going to get a better experience. It just didn't happen.

Honestly, if people liked the rants, then great for them. It's just nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
The one where calling someone a cunt doesn't equate to using racial slurs. But I mean, you have a history of using wonderful sentiments towards women so I get why we're on opposite ends of the spectrum here.

All that was said was that people on both sides of the argument can be offended by the word. I'm not sure if I totally agree with it when dealing with "cunt" but that's the similarity that was brought up. Nobody said "Saying cunt is the same as saying racial slurs" but that's how you've been reacting.

Pretty sums up everything I've heard from the haters (I didn't go to the show, I haven't said anything about it). So now let's leave this thread to the people that really think he's a god. Have fun guys!

lol the line in the sand has been drawn. You're either a hater or you think he's a god.

I honestly just wanted everybody to like the set. Not sure that makes me a hater, but I get the point.

Oh I'm sorry. I believe "1 percent less offensive" is the way it was put.
I just want to get this straight. You genuinely believe that "cunt" is an acceptable and non-offensive term in American society? And moreso, you think it has zero negative connotation regarding women?
When did he spew venom at the patrons? All I heard was him telling us to believe in ourselves, and to reach for our dreams.
Real asshole.
Seriously though, this is true. It's annoying that people like to hate on Kanye as much as they do. Sure he says some outlandish things, but did you see the crowd rocking to Black Skinhead in that video? You can't deny that he makes great songs. If you don't like him, cool, don't listen to him, don't go to his show. But man, the bashing of Kanye EVERYWHERE at Roo was ridiculous. Yet from that video, it looked like everyone was rocking along to it. I think people just got butt hurt when he basically blamed Bonnaroo for 2008. Oh well, I had the time of my life at that show.

Sounds like you were a disappointed fan, not a hater. Lots of people had very understandable, but similar, criticisms of Radiohead after 2012, and we were able to discuss them without resorting to "fuck Thom Yorke."
He's not a hater but someone that likes Kanye making the same points that people that don't like him were making seemed like a good place for this all to stop. There were reasons to not like the show, there are plenty of reasons to not like the man. If the lovers would allow us that I think we would get along a lot better. Instead of insulting people, how about "ok I understand why you didn't like the show/don't like Kanye, personally I loved the show and I love everything Kanye does." No one is going to say you're wrong for that. Most of the fuck Kanye stuff is jokes to set the lovers off because it's so easy to do, I know that's why I do it. Why we can't just let each other hate/love in peace?

No Dr. Joe, I don't think it's acceptable. Do I think it's more similar to calling someone a dick/pussy than the n-word? Absolutely.
Oh and IDC what anyone says, the Blood on the Leaves encore was the greatest thing ever. That made the entire show for me.
But everyone continue to hate Let's go back to 2011 and let Eminem lipsync for an hour and a half, because the Kanye show was sure a hell of a lot better than that crap. I wasn't there for 2010, but I can imagine Jay-Z had a pretty solid set. The man's a great performer, and know's how to make a crowd feel good.

I thought the "Kanye haters" were leaving this thread though? And that the argument had ended?
Also, we could probably pick similar fights but everyone knows Clutch sucks. No reason to argue that.
Edit: oh and it's really cool of you to say that you openly heckle fans of artists you don't care for. Way to radiate positivity and all that bullshit (though I've made similar moves with JW fans so I'm probably not the best guy to be telling you that)

This. I really wanted to leave Kanye and feel like he was hands down the best set of the festival. Unfortunately the setlist is what held it back for me. I was disappointed that he wasn't my favorite set of the weekend, but I still thought he was fantastic

What was so great about the encore? Aside from the song itself, I guess... Idk. As someone who enjoyed the set itself, I found "this is my last song" the most disappointing moment of the night.
