they're just tied too tightly to my angsty, early high school years. and thinking I was hardcore because I had purple converse sneakers and wore weird band shirts.
Oh man, we would've totally been friends...
This is me meeting Story of the Year at a Steak and Shake before their show... I'm wearing a Finch shirt.. inside out... oh. I'm the one in the pink shirt.
And here is me on my way to Warped Tour [circa 05ish I'm guessing?]. That is a Johnny Rockets shirt... I was really cool... and the one on the end in the green shirt. I just realized that my friend Morgan (on the end and the black shirt in the first picture) is in both of these pictures.
And this is a project I did in photography... Those are the lyrics to 'Adam's Song.' This is actually up on my wall in my bedroom.. like right now. It's on my wall right now.

omg adam's song. so many memories. that and constantine - talk about angst anthems.
those photos are gold. I'm still really sad I was never able to go to a warped tour when I was younger. actually, no. I probably would have never been pulled out of the angst-rock phase. thank you, lolla.
I don't have any angsty photos of me on the interwebs, but check out my sweet sweater.

DUDE! PLEASE TELL ME YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT THIS KONSTANTINE?
Omg. Something Corporate ='d life back then. My cousin and I seriously became solo close listening to Something Corporate and Dashboard back then. We got to see Dashboard together this year at Riot Fest and I felt 15 all over again. It was amazing.
I don't like to tell people they are entitled to their opinion because I don't think people should get to go around being wrong like you are. I'mma let you slide this time but NEVER put Vampire Weekend close to those two turd factories again. We cool?
Can't do it dude. We may be cool, but those other "two turd factories" are in the same category in my book. That is the suck-ass category, just so I am clear.
Ohhh, no. What's on fi ... is that... is that your book and every other possible spare? They must have been in the suck-ass category of the Dewey Decimate System. BOOM!!!

BTW, nice cardigan.
Must have the wrong persons stuff, cuz I switched over to all ebooks last year. That is a nice cardigan though.
Oh yea. For sure. I also had a black and white checkered seatbelt belt with cadillac symbol. FUCK YEA! HOT TOPIC!
Nice. I had a plain white GM one.
I had a seatbelt buckle belt covered in recycled bottle caps. I thought I was the hippest mofo in all the land. and a purse made from an old license plate.

On Vampire Weekend, studio stuff is good. Live show is terrible. But I had stood in one spot for like 6 hours when I saw them. Just seemed pretty lifeless on stage (Bonnaroo 2014).

I watched the live stream of their Bonnaroo performance and I would agree that it was rather lifeless. I didn't get the impression they were excited to be there. On the other hand, their performance at Firefly in 2013 totally blew me away.

I think they're a better venue band. I've heard a lot about them not having enough energy in a festival setting, but when I saw them at the orpheum (or maybe some other similar theater) last year, they were amazing. it was a perfect venue for them.
my only festival experience with them was at lolla '09 and it fucking sucked because there was a crowd of high school boys trying to mosh. YES. MOSH. at vampire weekend.

Lots of heartbreak in this thread, I'll add some more for some of you...
Kanye (production is amazing, but lyrically, he has done nothing for me since College Dropout) Drake Lil Wayne Springsteen (complete utter shit to me) Mumford/Edward Sharpe/ Lumineers/ etc. Frank Ocean Arctic Monkeys Skrillex U2 (everything since early 90s has sucked) Coldplay (obviously) Also, basically any country music ( I adore Cash, but it has been downhill since then.)
I'm just saying it is never okay and never will be okay to make light of anything about that event.
I'm not saying it's ok to make light of such tragedies, but I really just see that line as being quite clever. I'm not sure if there is more to that line that makes it sound worse, but I really don't see what he said as "making light" of the incident, he simply was discussing something "crazy and Asian", which are two things that accurately describe the shooter.

Like George Carlin said, you can make a joke about anything, it's all in how you construct it.
I'm not planning on hatng on you for not liking them (I'm a fan, but not one of those fans that thinks they're beyond reproach), but I'd like an explanation.
not a huge fan of pearl jam. then there's dave mathews band too.
Does DMB even qualify as a band to be mentioned in this thread? Half joke/half serious, I didn't think they were liked by enough people (especially on inforoo) to qualify as a "loved band"

Apparently that's the case, my bad. I guess you can write me down as someone doesn't like DMB. But, let me clarify, it's not that I think they're horrible (a couple of their songs are okay), but I just don't see anything about them appealing enough to be really into them, they're just another mellow, rock-ish jam band.
The Beatles (one or two songs I'm down with, like some John Lennon solo stuff, but at the end of the day I think they are a crappy boy band) The Grateful Dead (again, or or two songs that I dig, the rest I can leave) Phish (maybe it was their fans, but the only time I have enjoyed them is when I was so stoned I was no longer a citizen of earth)
