I really didn't like him until Jeffrey came out. Jeffrey was a top 5 album for me last year and made me go back and dig deeper into his collection. Now he's one of my favorite artists.
sounds like you need "to become aware of or informed about a situation, especially one that most or many other people know about already."
From this helpful explanation of the lyrics to "Memo":
Young Thug’s built this song around the idiom “to get the memo,” defined as “to become aware of or informed about a situation, especially one that most or many other people know about already.” “Memo” itself is short for memorandum, a document that outlines existing conditions or facts that are relevant to the addressee. It serves as an official reminder of something that needs to be revisited.
Thugga draws a great deal of attention to himself with his unusual fashion sense and idiosyncratic manner of rapping. He’s made himself pretty hard to miss, so it’s likely that everyone already knows what he’s about; in other words, they’ve “gotten the memo.”
So what do the Migos fans of inforoo think about them being homophobic?
I don't think they are homophobic. If you look at the quote, all they are really saying is that its weird that Makonnen did songs about hooking up with girls for years. Seems like the quote is being twisted into something it isnt to feed the fake outrage machine.
“Damn, Makonnen!” Quavo bellows after an awkward interlude. I mention support I saw online for Makonnen’s decision. “They supported him?” Quavo asks, raising an eyebrow. “That’s because the world is fucked up,” says Offset. “This world is not right,” Takeoff says. “We ain’t saying it’s nothing wrong with the gays,” says Quavo. But he suggests that Makonnen’s sexuality undermines his credibility, given the fact that “he first came out talking about trapping and selling Molly, doing all that.”

He frowns. “That’s wack, bro.
They're saying the world is fucked up and not right because people supported a gay rapper. They said being gay undermines his credibility because he raps about selling drugs? You're really about to defend them for this? It's entirely homophobic.

Yeah youre right. I interpreted "trapping" as something else. But yeah I guess they were talking about dealing. Alright, fuck em.

i was about to make a crack about how Makonenn's MUSIC is what undermines his credibility, haha, cause his music is terrible, but then i remembered i've never actually listened to him, so i decided to listen a bit to verify his music is terrible, then return here to make the aforementioned crack. i'm listening now, but unfortunately i can't decide if this is terrible or awesome. leaning towards awesome.
Honestly I loved the new album. Not defending them but it doesn't surprise me at all. People who subscribe to the hood mentality tend to be pretty homophobic. Lots of them act that way even if they low key have experimented with the same sex. Before people jump on to me I am just stating from personal experience with that aspect of culture. It doesn't tend to be one of acceptance. Fuck their homophobia though.

UWONTEVA STOP DO WHAT I DO
Its awful
the only difference between "awful" and "awesome" is taking away a "ful" and adding an "esome". think about it.
Me too, and I was just about to check out Culture because I like the album cover. Oh well.
Do you only have a problem with modern hip hop being homophobic? Or do you not listen to music from any homophobic hip hop music / artists of the past?
That's an interesting question. Not to make excuses, but for one I think it's different to be homophobic in the 90s than in 2017. Homophobia has always been a problem in rap music, but with people like Frank Ocean and other making it relatively big you would hope hiphop would be progressing too. Another thing is I was never a fan of Migos to begin with so this is just making me not want to give them a chance. For example I was a big fan of A Tribe Called Quest before I ever heard Georgie Porgie. That song is disgusting, but I can still appreciate their music that I like (but it honestly does make it more difficult to enjoy their music).
One of the reasons Kanye is my favorite rapper ever.

I thought you might go in both directions that you did. 90s homophobia not as big a deal and also that Migos is easier to boycott than Tribe, Mos Def, etc... Ive always been an "OJ was no less of a running back" kinda guy when it comes to scumbag musicians. I was thinking there would be hypocrisy in your Migos point, but I can dig your line of logic.

For some reason you using the term "low key" cracks me up. I think it might be because of your avatar.
