My bro and me decided (way too) late to go to bonnaroo and got tix online and they are supposed to arrive thursday, hopefully they will arrive early but im kinda doubtful about that...he is coming up from chicago (i live in ohio) i think wed. night and then we have to drive down to tennessee once we get the tix, basically my question is...will there be ok camp spots even arriving on thursday in the day or possibly at night? Im assuming we'll have a pretty crappy spot,, any one have experience with far away camp spots or any advice on getting there as fast as possible from ohio? This is our first trip to Bonnaroo, any advice is helpful! Thanks
As far as camping spots go, there is no way to control where you end up. With 90,000 people is would be absolute chaos if they let people pick their spots. It is just like any major event where you are directed in by the employees. I have been hearing from people on this board that if you get there early, you will be far from the concert grounds, yet both years I have arrived late and was still far away (30 - 45 minute walk from my tent to the concert grounds.) I really don't know they're logic behind the parking, but I am sure it is all for good reason.
Just be prepared to be far away ...which isn't too bad when you come back to your tent exhausted and you can sleep in peace. I would hate to be camped in the main strip where people are walking around and are up ALL night. Expect to get up in the morning, do what you gotta do, then pack a day bag with neccesities and make the trek to the stages. That way you don't have to walk all the way back to the tent for several hours. Plan ahead of time to come back to the tent a specific time (during bands you don't HAVE to see.) Come back, make some food, rest your feet, change into warmer clothes (since it can get cold) and then head back for the night shows.
