This Christmas break on hockey is killing me. Thank god there were a few bowl games to tide me over. I try and try to watch complete NBA games and the product is just not that entertaining to me anymore. Hawks back on the ice tonight and the Olympics are right around the corner!!!!

Ever hear of the World Junior Championship?
Most of us live in 'Murrica, bud, we they'll televise funny car racing or some sh*t like that on ESPN 47 before a junior-level hockey tourney. NHL Network is supposed to show it, but I don't think most people get that.

I didnt get to watch first US game live at home and streaming was blocked at work. I certainly will not mind waking up tommorow to US vs Slovakia at 730am.
Bruins have been playing pretty lousy lately. Cough up a 3-1 lead to the Islanders last night... ugh.
I really, really hate the idea of Tuuka playing in the Olympics too. Fatigue late in playoffs was an issue with him in 2010. Adding the Olympics to a shortened offseason could spell disaster in the playoffs. Hopefully Annti Niemi sneaks in and takes the job from him.
What's a normal amount of guys to send to the Olympics from a good team? B's were gonna be at 6 before Eriksson and Seidenberg got hurt (or more if I missed someone) and I was just wondering how that was in comparison.

6 is a good amount. I think the hawks will be at 7 or 8. Kane sharp toews seabrook keith crawford hossa and maybe 1 or 2 more. Hoping crawford gets left off the team. Was really happy that saad was left off the usa team

Don't worry about Crawford, even if he's selected, I doubt he dresses for a single game. Fatigue is also not a big deal for goalies in terms of long playoff runs in Olympic years. It's 7 games max. Rask had Thomas in 2010 didn't he (I could be wrong). The back up starts a couple extra games between the Olympics and playoffs, no biggy. Rask was also younger and less experienced.
Patrice Bergeron Jeff Carter Logan Couture Sidney Crosby Matt Duchene Jordan Eberle Ryan Getzlaf Claude Giroux Taylor Hall Chris Kunitz Andrew Ladd Milan Lucic Brad Marchand James Neal Corey Perry Michael Richards Patrick Sharp Eric Staal Jordan Staal Martin St. Louis Steven Stamkos John Tavares Joe Thornton Jonathan Toews
Pick only 13!
Karl Alzner Jay Bouwmeester Dan Boyle Drew Doughty Mike Green Dan Hamhuis Travis Hamonic Duncan Keith Kristopher Letang Marc Methot Dion Phaneuf Alex Pietrangelo Brent Seabrook Marc Staal PK Subban Marc-Édouard Vlasic Shea Weber
Pick 8, and oh yeah, Weber, Letang, Subban, Seabrook, Pertangelo, Doughty are all Right handed, so cut one, maybe 2 of them! Would not wanna be Stevie Y tomorrow....
This is an amazing article in terms of depth of insight into the process of selecting an Olympic team. I am normally not a fan of ESPN Hockey writing, but this made my day:
Thomas was the starter in 2011, Rask was the backup.
Last night the Bruins started some third string goalie over Rask and Johnson. I'm alright with giving Rask some time off, as he's been struggling in recent. The kid Svedberg is 24, just called up from Providence, and won his first game in the NHL - not bad. Give him and Johnson some playing time in Jan and Feb, get Rask in better position for the end of season and playoffs.
Oh, and the B's beat Nashville again.

Benn Bergeron Carter Crosby Duchene Getzlaf Kunitz Marleau Nash Perry Sharp Stamkos Tavares Toews
Bouwmeester Doughty Hamhuis Keith Pietrangelo Subban Vlasic Weber
Luongo Price Smith
i gotta think Subban is a 7th Dman here, but I'm very glad he made it.
Also Of the 4 NHL DMen Russia is taking, 2 are from the Habs. This is the best representation from the Canadiens in the Olympics that I can think of, with Price, Subban, Markov Emelin Pacoretty, and Plekanic the Captain of the Czech team. Galchenyuk should have made the US team IMO, but that's my bias
These are not just guys who barely made it (Exception of Subban on canada, where just making it is still a huge deal). These are all important players who will determine the success of their respective teams. Those who underestimate the Habs, take note!
I am also OVERJOYED LUCIC AND MARCHAND are not on the team!
10 Blackhawks selected and it could have been worse. Seabrook, Crawford and Saad were all borderline. This is going to make it tough come playoff time.

I'm sure they can handle an extra 7 games. The Hawks will likely have the luxury of making the playoffs early and sit a few guys here and there to rest up for playoffs. The Habs will likely have to claw their way in I till the last game of the season. Next year will be the year for the habs to go deep, I'll be happy with a first round series win this year

2010 eastern conference playoffs were a mess. Could be a coincidence but the 4 seed over the 5 was the only series in the east where the higher seed won.

Something else happened in the 2010 playoffs... Didn't it.
I won't argue one way or the other, it may be coincidence, it may be that the top teams had worn out star players, or it may have been a freak year for the underdogs. Who knows.

I wish I could pinpoint Hanks problem. He's played "better" of late but if rather talbot in the bet right now. I know Hank will be our guy but right now we need points and Talbot is getting them.

Still pissed that the Flyers dealt Talbot. On the other hand though, we're second in the Metropolitan division...which really isn't saying much. The Eastern Conference blows right now. I made myself sad...shit.
I'm pleased, I think we have a decent shot but it's going to be really tough.
Gold: Sweden Silver: Canada Bromnze: USA
I'm gonna be hating on you for a little while after the stunt you pulled last night. Just a heads up so your prepared. You need to remember where these Olympics are being held.
