Suns deal Marcin Gortat, Shannon Brown and Kendall Marshall to the Wiz for an injured Emeka Okafor and a first round pick in next year's loaded draft. In case you weren't convinced this next draft will have some franchise altering players, here's a team willing to part with two starters and a former first round pick in order to gain a 2014 first rounder and an indefinitely sidelined player. Add the Suns to the Riggin for Wiggins group, as this team is now reduced to the Goran and Eric show and a lock for a lottery pick.
This seems like a pretty decent move for the "Win Now" Wizards. Gortat is a servicable starting center and Brown adds a little depth to an unproven wing rotation. Marshall might be something some day, but with John Wall and Eric Maynor ahead of him in the pecking order I'd expect him to wind up in the D-League for the foreseeable future. This might be a playoff team if Wall and Beal turn out as good as advertised.
Micheal Carter-Williams out there making Philly fans say "Jrue Who?" 22 pts/7 reb/12 ast/9 stls in his NBA debut against Lebron and co. Not bad for a guy who looks like he just graduated middle school.
AI was my favorite player when he was playing. I remember doing book reports in middle school on his life and basketball career. He always took a lot of shit while he was playing, and deservedly so in a lot of instances. To me, it never mattered because the dude put everything he had out there while he was playing. He truly is one of a kind, and I hope history looks more at his exploits on the court than his troubled times off of it.

I love Iverson. His all out effort on the floor hasn't and won't be matched by many. He represented a culture shift in both the NBA and their audience and took a lot of flack for it. He was never apologetic for who he was, sometimes to a fault. He will be remembered favorably by most, I think, when its all said and done.
I have a very funny Allen Iverson story, but I don't have time to give it the proper write-up right now, so I'll share that one later.
Knicks went up 24 at halftime, then blew it and went down 1 with 2 minutes left, then Tyson Chandler went alpha beast mode and basically won the game by himself. Bucks are a solid team, but I don't think blowing a 24-point lead at home bodes well for the season.
Can we take a minute to appreciate just how f*cking creepy the New Orleans mascot is?
Those eyes... that tongue... this creature will haunt my dreams. Can we just switch it to a big unibrow instead? It's much more important to New Orleans basketball right now, anyway.
This is the year of the triple double. There have a been a sh*t ton already this season, with Lance Stephenson notching his second tonight and Batum, MCW, Tony Wroten and Ricky Rubio also doing it earlier too. That's more than one trip-dub per week! Gotta be a record pace for how many the league gets in a season.
Thank you Kendrick Perkins, for keeping it real and protecting the sanctity of the locker room.
Is it meme worthy? Just a big, angry Perk face with "Get your ass up outta here" on it? I'm sure it could get some good use in some of the threads on here.
You hear that sound out there? That's the sound of Chris Bosh dropping motherfucking bombs on Portland's hopes and dreams. Who needs Lebron when you have the great alien leader playing for your team? He hits it. From deep.
The All Star starters will be announced in about a week. Who deserves a nod?
Those who will be Western Conference All Star Starters: Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry, Blake Griffin, Dwight Howard. Those who will be Eastern Conference All Star Starters: Lebron James, Paul George, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Kyrie Irving.
Damian Lillard and/or Lamarcus Aldridge should be in the starting lineup for the West at the expense of Dwight/Kobe. I would also switch D-Wade with John Wall and I would welcome swapping Carmelo with Hibbert, though that's a much, much harder argument to make. If healthy, Chris Paul would obviously be a starter.
The all star benches should look like this. WC: Lillard, James Harden, Aldridge, Kevin Love, Demarcus Cousins, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan. EC: Wall, Kyle Lowry, Hibbert, Paul Millsap, Joakim Noah, Lance Stephenson, Christopher Bosh.

as a magic fan I wish afflalo could replace lowry but our team is just too damn bad. Anthony Davis a possibility despite the injury? I think he's more deserving than duncan this year.

I like both Davis and Afflalo, but I think their respective team's spot in the standings will hurt them. I personally would rather see Davis than Duncan simply because of the nature of the ASG. During the early track meet part of the game Brow would be a dynamic finisher, and when they actually start playing real basketball he could be a defensive centerpiece.
The Spurs are just too good. It's clearly about more than just Parker and Duncan in San Antonio, but they'd be the best players on the team with a top two record come All Star time. Davis and Afflalo have dealt with injuries too. That's why I think the Spurs duo will get the nod.

I think Davis would be a Curry type snub (last year) with the way he's played this year. Your points are valid, but room should be made, though it'd be much easier if he was in the East. Afflalo I can't argue for considering just how poor the magic are.
BTW I almost thought you meant glen davis. Had to re-read my post lolol

Zach Lowe on Grantland says Afflalo and Davis should get the nod in front of Stephenson and Duncan.
Per Lowe:
"Afflalo’s defense has been overrated most of his career, but he’s been super efficient carrying an Orlando offense bereft of long-range shooting and legit scoring options. He’s worked hard to make himself an effective post player, and it has paid off hugely this season. He’s shooting 51 percent on post-up plays, per Synergy Sports, and among 79 players with at least 50 post-ups to their name, Afflalo ranks ninth in points per possession. He ranks even higher if you broaden the data search to include shots Orlando attempts after Afflalo kicks the ball out of the post, per Synergy."
"Davis and Cousins are interesting candidates, especially in relation to Drummond’s All-Star case. All three are big men manning the middle for awful defenses, a black mark that could disqualify all of them. But Cousins and Davis offer more diverse portfolios. Both play far larger roles in their teams’ decent-to-very-good offenses. Davis is shooting 53 percent and using a ton of possessions in very different ways, even though he’s still learning the nuances of each of them — pick-and-roll cuts to the rim, shallower rolls where he catches near the foul line and works off the bounce, post-ups, and more. He’s the league’s premier transition big man, he’s a very good foul shooter, and he’s fifth in the entire stinking association in PER."
There's still hope yet! We'll find out a week from tomorrow...

As a Mavs fan, Id say monta Ellis deserves his first All Star appearance. On the bench but still should be there. He has finally given the Mavs another scoring option aside from Dirk. His shooting percentages have been better this year on the floor and beyond the arc, hes been more efficient, and has distributed the ball very well. YES, he turns the ball over more than I'd like but hes turned the Mavs into a potential mid seed in the playoffs. Now if they could only find a way to play defense. Oh, and a center would help.

My god this Durant stretch is insane. Adding in a triple double and game closer (final six points against the Hawks) to go with 11 straight 30 point games.

You forgot to mention he FINALLY got a worthwhile nickname during this stretch too! The Slim Reaper!
