In this thread we will discuss the best boring bands out there right now.
I'm really digging B-Room. After about 100 spins I can safely say it is at least a top 3 in my personal AOTY list. What do you guys think?
Has anyone had a chance to listen to the new Avett's yet? I haven't yet and I'm very nervous. The Carpenter just didn't do it for me. Fortunately, I saw them last week and they still brought it live. No new songs performed though.
Serious question: how many new releases have you listened to this year?
EDIT: Bonus points if you list them.
Sorry I don't have time to make a list. I probably would forget most anyways. I'm probably at about 50ish new albums for the year, but that's a rough guess. I did pretty good catching up during the Summer with all the stuff I was interested and a good bit of the AOTM tread vote getters. I haven't done great since August though.
For the record my top 3 would be Jason Isbell, PTM, Dr Dog. Not sure how everything fits in after that.

The new AB album is disappointing to me. I'm glad they aren't playing a lot of it live. I've never seen a bad show but their albums are getting soft and lacking the honesty that turned me on to them. I still think the PTM album is pretty good for being boring.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I like Monsters of Folk but as an album i'm not sure it holds up that well, too many skips when I listen to it.
Dave Rawlings Machine is good but I would say there are 2-3 other Gillian Welch albums above it.
I'm Wide Awake should absolutely be on the list. I completely forgot it, but I'm still mad at Connor Oberst for being the reason I haven't seen MMJ in Arizona since 2008 so I guess it works out.

He was one of the co-founders of Sound Strike which started the musician boycott of Arizona after the SB1070 immigration law passes
I figured you'd be mad at Jan Brewer about that.
Yes among others. I just don't think a boycott is the right way to go about things. The boycott continues (mostly, some of the original artists have returned since), but no one thinks or talks about it. Just look at their website; half of the pages including the "about" and "the lists of artists" don't even work anymore. If they organized shows in Arizona benefiting various border charities (humane borders and pan left are two good ones) and spoke out against the law and the state government, it would at least remind people the issue exists.
Artist - Album (pitchfork score [so juggs knows whether he likes the album or not])
Is there a parable relating to one's inability to understand the concept of sarcasm or humor? Perhaps I'm just unaware of such a thing, but if I were, I'd relate it here.
