I dont know if this would be the correct place to offer my services but, since every email response i get from craigslist is a scam, i figured id offer my services to my homies here on inforoo. Ive been to bonnaroo the past 4 years in a row and have met a lot of michiganders, so, this my attempt to obtain some buisness from those like minded Michigan musicians.
I am an audio engineer with a degree in Audio recording and Music production. Since my start in this field, it has become widely apparent that most people who desire to record their music simply do not have the funds to afford paying for hours upon hours at a legitimate recording studio. So my idea was to provide a mobile recording service at a affordable price.
I have worked with musicians with local fame as well as engineered numerous other projects such as; Podcasts, Audio for television commercials, Audio for radio commercials, and was the Microphone engineer on a recent video shoot for the AKG microphone company. In the past year I have recorded multiple sessions with String sections, Horn/Brass sections, Classical piano artists, Rock & Roll artists, Soul artists, Pop artists, And most recently, I have gotten positive reviews from the Nashville songwriters association for my work on tracking a tune for a national T.V. ad campaign.
The way it works: 1. You call or E-mail me to set up an appointment 2. I will come to your home and set up my gear (should take about 30mins) 3. We record how ever many songs you choose based on what you can afford (see pricing below) 4. I will do a rough mix in studio headphones on location so you can have a CD or digital file in your hands and on your ipod the very same day of our appointment 5. I will take the tracks back to my home studio and mix them on professional Mixing Monitors 6. I will send you the files of the monitor mix and just like that you will have a professionally recorded record. **I also work at a professional recording studio, so, if you're really satisfied about the way the songs turn out during our session, I can take the files to the studio and run it through analog outboard gear and our mastering suite and take your tracks to the next level. (see pricing below)
Also, Please note that I am offering a mobile service, and being that it would be insane to bring a whole entire studio rig with me capable of recording a full band, I am really only interested in Singers/Song writers with a single guitar or piano part and a vocal, anything more than that (I.E. a full band) would need to be done at the studio I work at so we can have the proper amount of microphones and preamps to record a project of that size. We can discuss pricing for a project like that if that sounds more like your cup of tea.
Mobile Recording pricing: *1 song w/ an acoustic guitar or piano track and a Lead Vocal (90$) **2 songs w/ an acoustic guitar or piano track and a Lead Vocal (170$) ***3 Songs w/ an acoustic guitar or piano track and a Lead Vocal (250$) ****4 songs w/ an acoustic guitar or piano track and a Lead Vocal (300$) Obviously we can include a Guitar or piano solo in each song for no extra cost.
If after hearing the Rough mix the day of our appointment you desire to take the mixing of the songs to the next level, I can take the songs to my work and run the tracks through analog outboard gear for 100$ an hour, on average, it would probably cost 200$ to do this to 4 songs. Although that may seem pricey, the outcome will make you wonder how I could possibly pull that off for only 200$.
I have all the gear I need to give you the highest quality recording one could ask for, all you need is, Your guitar or piano, Your Voice, and a song!
*Feel free to contact me to schedule an appointment or to ask any questions*
E-mail: ThoughtandSound247@gmail.com Phone: 1-248-930-4067 (If I do not answer, It's because I am in session, please either text me, or, E-mail me and I will get back to you as soon as I can)
Sounds groovy, springnut. I went to school fer the same thing, only I'm findin' it very difficult to find employment in the field. If you've got any advice I'd love to hear it! Best of luck, my friend!
Well to tell you the truth, I have worked very hard and got very lucky to get a job in the field, my skill level and comprehension of the trade Helped me out in a huge way no doubt, but, getting a job doing this took a lot of internship work and about 200 unpaid hours of sessions to prove I was capable and ready to hold an engineering position. Now that I do have a job in it I am still trying to get side work to be able to make a half decent living doing this, Id like to continue going to bonnaroo every year without financial strain, I know people on this board heard dat. So all I can advise is keep on the grind and get your chops up, rap sessions are the best for tracking and comping practice.
Good luck, And michigan people.... WHERE YOU AT? This is a deal when you sees ones

I think you're looking for people with a very specific need in a specific location. I'm not sure this is the best place to reach those people, as people generally come here looking for information about music festivals and to otherwise shoot the breeze.
Have you tried advertising locally (outside of CL)? Perhaps doing some networking at local shows?
