And Dave Maynar... vegan? Did you all conspire in PMs just to troll me?
Yep. We've been planning it for days.
Four pages about beef cooking. You guys are bored.
Still better than most of what's going on at this time of year.
"Hey guys, Kanye's headlining!" "Kanye will never be back. 5-year old grudges matter, damn it! This is obviously Prince's year." "I think you meant Daft Punk." "All of you shut up, they got Bowie."
Abra grew up with well-done steaks, but she realized the error of her ways. I have hope for your salvation as well.
When I first met Josh, he told me that he didn't like steak, and I thought he was a crazy person, but it just turned out that he had only ever had well-done steaks. Now he understands.
I also grew up eating well-done steaks (well-done every kind of meat, actually). I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't know there were other kinds of ways to cook meat until I was in college.
And thanks to this guy, ground pork won't be allowed in the house soon either.
Have you seen what I did for you this morning on Facebook?
I really need to stop searching for Dave Maynar when Facebook stalking. (Of course, after I wrongly searched, I remembered that I was looking on the wrong wall all together).
And for those kids who can't or don't want to look it up, this is what Chico said:
I spoke with my dietician friend this morning. Here's what she said about hormones in beef. She says most producers don't use it anymore. Hormones don't increase the quantity of meat but rather it's still very pervasive in the dairy industry bc it does increase milk production.
Nutritionally she says it's all basically interchangeable but you need to watch fat % on the meat you're buying. Many ground meats are about the same bc they use everything.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

You can buy leaner versions of most ground meat. I only buy lean.
Not if you want a good burger. Fat is your friend when it comes to burgers. Anything leaner than 80/20 chuck will obviously be healthier but won't taste very good.

I don't really eat burgers. And the one time a year I eat them, I eat them at a restaurant so I have no say... but I hear ya. I only use ground meat for chili or Thai meals like Nam Sod or Laab salad.

I mix chorizo into my ground beef. Adds the fat I need for grilling as well as a good kick of spicy. Since chorizo is pork I wouldnt cook it below medium-well, but it will still be a moist burger because of the added fat content.

And now, I must have this. Burgers two nights in a row? Seems legit.

When I was in Nashville in August, JHOinTN suggested we meet up at a burger place by her. I had the most AMAZING chorizo burger (topped with guacamole and cucumber salad, and served with tots). It is easily the best burger I have ever had. Usually I drown my burgers, dogs, etc with pounds of condiments because I'm not a huge fan.. but this... oh man.. perfect as is.

This is amazing. However, cooking it to medium well is not.
It is a common misconception about pork that it needs to be cooked more than beef, but actually, the same principles apply to pork as they do with beef. 145 is an acceptable internal temperature, but you are at no greater risk with a rare pork tenderloin than you are with a beef tenderloin.
Almost everyone I know overcooks pork. If you all like medium rare steaks, wait until you taste the difference with a medium rare pork steak.
I have a crock pot, I make pulled pork in it, if I could mold it into the shape of a woman, I'd have sex with it (the pulled pork that is, not the crock pot, I'm not a sick f*ck or anything).

Please tell me it's Plan B
I've actually only had one beef burger there. (with A$AP Rosko!). I don't go often, but when I do, I get a spinach salad or the buffalo chicken burger. West Hartford is actually quite a burger mecca. We have SO many nice burger joints and they keep multiplying- Plan B, BGR, Jack's Wayback, Moolah, The Counter, Max Burger... I haven't had any of their burgers though. I just get a burger when the situation calls for it. The only burgers I have had this year were in Nashville and at the Vortex in Atlanta with mayonaise.

You know.. I bet that you could make a mound of pulled pork with a convenient hole.

Of course you would be the one to start working out the logistics on that.

We can make it three burgers this year when you come back for New Years! Or steak

Yeah, I was just using sex as a vehicle to convey my love of crock pot pulled pork. Next thing you know Bonzai is going to be setting up a vendor tent at Roo with pork dildos and fleshlights made out of...flesh.

Do it all at once! The Jake's Triple-Triple Burger!
