I need to a listen a few more times, but so far I find the new Alt-J to be quite a let-down. Seems a lot more boring than their first, with not many songs that I'm dying to hear again.

I'll refrain from voting (I don't want to get bitched at) - but I don't see anything topping Syro for me. Didn't get into DFA1979 that much, Drums was good but not great, Alt-J was boring.
Syro though... yeahhh. I came to this record expecting it to not live up to the expectations, but it's pretty great.

I don't know how they do things in Thailand, but round here, you don't just post in AOTM thread and not actually vote. You can take your no album cover posting, banshee smelling @ss and get the hell out.

(See, you're still going to get b*tched at)
Where's your vote in this post, ass?
I was fully planning on voting for Goat, but that Aphex Twin is blowing me away right now. I need some more time.

Oh I'll vote. I have just learned my lessons about voting any time before the very last moment.
The only person that could top that new Perfume Genius album is Prince. Syro is amazing (as is Clearing The Path To Ascend), but Too Bright is gonna be a record of the year.

just gave perfume genius a first listen. not sure how I stayed awake. I found it to be a bit of a snoozer. though it isn't really my type of music, there wasn't much at all I could get into about it. It would probably be great for a rainy afternoon nap.
I had high hopes for the new alt-j, and though I don't think its all bad, it hasn't grabbed me like An Awesome Wave did. I've given it about 4 listens now, and each time it has grown a bit. though I think the Garden of England Interlude is just a wonky, out of place, and totally unnecessary. it seems silly.
GOAT is defintely in the lead so far. I really like Sukierae as well, but there are parts where it kind of drags and I need a break, though after reading an interview with Jeff Tweedy in the guardian I think that was a bit intentional. Still have to give DFA1979 a listen, and looking forward to Prince.

Druid yes. I listened to the whole thing. queen was a stand out actually, and I was initially pretty excited about the rest of it. but then the album just kinda fizzled. maybe its a recency bias, because the last half of the album really dragged for me.
and I work in an open lab space, so headphones are the only option. i get funny stares when I start air drumming at my desk.

The new Weezer album leaked. Definitely go purchase it when it comes out in 2 weeks. Sounds like a great combination of Blue-Pinkerton-Green. Definitely the best album they've put out in a very long time.
Empires new album, Orphan, was released on Tuesday. Nothing ground breaking, but very solid alt rock and much better than the gaslight anthems most recent effort.
