Damn good first period, keep it up boys! How 'bout Russia being out already? I wonder how many of their players will be executed? Along with their families.

Finally got around to watching the ice dancing competition last night. The Russian program blew me away and gave me goosebumps. Absolutely stunning. I know USA (gold) and Canada (silver) were more "technical" or whatever, but from a completely ice-dancing-ignorant standpoint I enjoyed watching the Russians (bronze) and found it to be beautiful/fresh/innovative.

The problem about being Team Canada, is every team you play against is playing like they'll never play another game, for the rest of their lives. Norway, Austria, and Latvia, each game should have been a 10-0 blow out. But these are teams who are way more pumped up, more motivated, and have way more heart invested in being in the olympics. Canadian hockey players go to bed dreaming about winning the Stanley Cup as kids. European's dream about Olympic medals. Not saying our boys dont want it, but Latvia wants it more.

it just makes for the best hockey on the planet. I love it.
Im waiting for Latvia to get a quick break out and score one like their first. But Latvia looks tired as fuck at the end of the 2nd. their goalie is gonna faultier eventually. i hope.

came here just to see if Boner's balls were sweating since I saw all the shit he's been talking. If you think Latvia was tough...
USA wont be playing the way Austria, Norway, and Latvia played.
We may have trouble scoring goals against goalies playing the games of their lives, but Canada had nearly 60 shots, and about 30 scoring chances. I'm not very worried.
Canada VS USA is the game Canada will show up for. and if they don't, then shame on them, because this team was built to beat a team like the USA.

Really hope Tavares is ok!
Canada should and will be expected to win.
That being said, the US built a team specifically for Canada, knowing the road goes through them for a gold medal. Don't write them off so soon, bud. The blue liners for the States is pretty solid, and Quick is definitely capable of playing one of those "brick wall" games.
Latvia beating Canada would have been a great story, but now we'll just have to watch THE GOOD OL' U.S. OF A BEAT 'EM
If USA beats Canada, i honestly wont be surprised. after close games vs Norway, Finland and Latvia, I've adapted to the idea of Canada maybe being bounced.
but if Canada beats the US, it will be that much sweeter, since you guys have waltzed through so far, and have expectations up so high.
Canada has utterly dominated every game they've played thus far. Dont let scoreboards fool you.

It's not fooling me, I'm just being overly patriotic for theatrical reasons. It's going to be a crazy good game. Canada is the most talented team in the tournament and they really, really, don't want to lose to the US

Should be a good one, can't wait.
Im certainly not writing off USA. I feel more confident saying they will beat us, than i am saying we will beat them. Kessel and Kane are on fire. I do feel Canada's D and Price are up to the task in stoping them, but we need to score goals, and cant rely on our D to do it vs the US.

I'm not sure we "waltzed" through that Russia game. Of course the expectations are/were high regardless of anything, it's gold or bust. I'm just annoyed that this isn't a rematch for the gold.
Either way this is gonna be a damn good game and I'm much more excited for this than even the Super Bowl. I think it's kinda cool that both US/Canada games are going to be almost identical. Both the men and women play the same styles for their respective countries, it's speed VS physicality.
