"Today, Mr. Phelps may have learned that God, in fact, hates no one. Vicious and hate-filled as he was, may his soul find the kind of peace through death that was so plainly elusive during his life." - George Takei
If there's a God hopefully this piece of shit is burning right now. Can't say I'm the least bit sad about his death. Good riddance.
No just god would offer an immortal punishment for a mortal sin.
This guy's group went around and spread hatred, but the response from many religious groups and people was to become more moderate. They saw this walking caricature of their most ridiculous beliefs and went "huh, maybe we really are intolerant". He played the bad guy, and now that he's dead, the best thing we can do is forget his name and not dwell on it. Hatred and vengeance are such weird, self-destructive emotions. If anything, we should have learned from him that they lead nowhere.

That's why George Takei is amazing.
I was trying to find a way to express this very thought. Thanks George!
