ok so i am during show volunteer this will be my first bonnaroo and I'm planning on taking greyhound. but I'm not sure on much much stuff i am allowed to bring. for those who have taken greyhound to the farm your input would be appreciated. should i pack light i don't mind paying extra for more bags. i wanna make sure i have everything thats needed to survive my first roo. please share your knowledge
Rule #1.... if you can avoid it at all, don't take Greyhound. I mean it'll get you there, but it's your worst option if you're coming from further than a couple hundred miles away.
If you must take Greyhound, I hope you're already coming from the South, and yes pack light. I took it last year from Philly and would not recommend doing that to anyone. Bring your tent, sleeping bag, clothes, and whatever else you can cram into a couple pieces of luggage. There seem to be lots of volunteers that take Greyhound, but if you're coming from very far I'd recommend you find someone to carpool with. It's a brutal haul and the buses are packed depending on which day you head in. Anyhow, good luck. Sometimes there is no choice. It is cheap, but it's not very fun if you have to endure more than a few hours.

I've taken a greyhound bus before, but this year I booked a greyhound trip from Dover, DE to Tennessee after Firefly music fest is done....this thread is discouraging that decision of mine haha

I think if you are going a short distance, Greyhound is not a bad choice. For cross country trips with transfers, there's a lot that could go wrong.
On my journey, first our bus broke down outside Vegas. That delayed us four hours while waiting for a new bus. Then, the new bus broke down in Grand Junction, CO where we had to wait an additional 12 hours for a replacement bus.
Whilst waiting/stranded in Grand Junction, as soon as we had a trusted answer from Greyhound on when the new vehicle would arrive... we bought a last minute flight from Denver-->Roo. Otherwise, we would have been late.
It's just.... there's a lot that could go wrong. You might get there safely, on time, with no hitch's. Then again, you might not.

well i live in atlanta so its not that far. I'm just looking at all my options just kinda wanted to know if they limit you to how much luggage you can bring? or certain things you can't carry

Looks like you basically get one small carry-on up to 25 lbs and that can fit under your seat, one suitcase/bag up to 50 lbs, and you can check a second one for $15. Poisons and corpses are among the excluded types of baggage, FYI.

You're going to have to get creative. And hiding it inside barrels of uranium or your latest batch of ricin are right out. Private truck freight might be cheaper, depending on the size. Or whatever, I'm just posting this for a friend, or something.

My friend volunteered last year and took a Greyhound down. When he got to the station there were a bunch of locals giving rides for a few bucks. My friend got one of the last rides out and when he sat down he noticed that the driver had a semi-automatic rifle sitting next to him. Needless to say my friend was a little sketched out about this stranger packing heat. Everything turned out find because people around there are super nice, but just giving you a heads up to watch out for weirdos after you get off the bus.
