I have loved this band since the first note i heard. I suppose you could call it my Beatles moment. Do not get me wrong, I am not drawing a comparison there, yet Steely Dan is the band that showed me the infinite possibilities of what music can do. The attention to detail and musical structure is amazing, and the cast of musicians used is always top notch. Any other fans out there?
I like Steely Dan. The guitar riffs in "Reeling In The Years" are under appreciated, I think.
Interestingly, I was drawn back to Steely Dan by De La Soul when they used "Peg" in "Eye Know." That riff got stuck in my head and I had to go back to the source to fix that issue. My roommate for summer school 1989 has hated Steely Dan ever since, just because I played them so much that summer.
Love Steely Dan, but I'm not a real hardcore or anything... love pretty much all of the stuff from the 70s, though. Can't wait to see them here in town in a couple of months.

I was able to check out three shows this past summer. The hit Aja on song two every night, is was like a damn appetizer for what was to come. They were great, and the drummer was highlighted all night. That was impressive shiz, Carlock stole the show.
