Going to try to get some work done today. Taking the girl out on the town tonight (I promise, if you don't think you have any options where you live...I have fewer). Cookout and fireworks on the mountain tomorrow. Maybe golf on Sunday.
I would like to engage in some fun trips over Memorial Day, 4th of July, New Years, etc. but it seems like I can make it happen. I'm usually doing something over Labor Day, but that always ends up being a tease because my university doesn't take that Monday off. I think my brother is going to the Foo Fighters DC show on Saturday.
I'm going to get drunk and blow off fireworks. Every year my friends and I each throw $100 in, drive to indiana and hope we don't get pulled over with a trunk full of contraband crossing the IL boarder. but first I have a karaoke party tonight.

More importantly, Dalton is having another parade on July 5th...
You guys are having one too? My sister's best friend is a flag enthusiast, and she reposted something about celebrating heritage July 5th at your local town center or Wal-Mart. My guess is they're mad they've been betrayed by their favorite place.

We are the OG heritage brigade. I looked on that Facebook page and they've either created a new one to get away from the attention or are all embarrassed by the internet. By the increase of flags around town I'd say it's still on for Sunday.
And yeah, they felt totally betrayed. The Dalton parade route was from one Wal-mart to the other. Which is just as hilarious as it is sad.

That's too fucking good. Only a confederate flag parade would have Wal-mart book ends.
Change of plans. Since I fucking deserve it after dealing with all the bullshit, I am indulging in some extra fun and watching the fireworks. Never done that before. Should be a fun night.

I had planned on going to that. Things happened and Sunday turned into a busy day. Knowing that Isbell and Sturgill have really short sets makes missing it a little easier. Have a blast! I like how it appears acts will be playing the smaller stage while set ups are happening on the main.

I'm going to walk to the edge of The Niagara River in Fort Erie, Ontario and eat a Philly cheesesteak while drinking a Budweiser while shooting off some fireworks towards beautiful Buffalo, New York while listening to some Bruce Springsteen fucking loud, fucking loud as shit. Enjoy your party guys!! Great people, great country. You should be proud.

I get out of work at 5, Sturgill goes on at 5:45, I hope I make it for his show. Any shows I shouldn't miss there? I only really care about seeing Willie, Sturgill, and Merle Haggard. Don't really know the others.

Jamey Johnson is good. I went to the picnic in '10 at The Backyard and he played. He only teased the song "In Color" which would have been perfect for the 4th.

We had a family friend pass unexpectedly, so I told my folks I'd take care of the family dog til they get back Monday. On Wednesday, we have to put him down because he has pretty well moved on mentally after fourteen good years. Not really how I saw this weekend occurring at all, but that's how it is sometimes. Corn man is out of corn too.
All things considered, I'm probably about to take one of the party favors left over by the farm and watch the crossroads guitar festival recaps on Palladia then the fireworks later.
Okay guys, one more thing, this summer when you're being inundated with all this American bicentennial Fourth Of July brouhaha, don't forget what you're celebrating, and that's the fact that a bunch of slave-owning, aristocratic, white males didn't want to pay their taxes.
Didn't end up making it in time for Sturgill after all, but he'll be back for ACL so it's all good man. But Willie Nelson was great! He went on at 12:30 and played like 18 songs until 1:30. Willie also joined Merle Haggard during Haggard's set for 3 songs which was really cool. Eric Church was the best of all though, had no idea they rock so hard, reminds me of Zac Brown Band. They did snippets of Sweet Leaf and Reign In Blood, so they won me over as a new fan. Also saw a couple songs of Kacey Musgraves and Jamey Johnson, they were okay, Kacey Musgraves did some nice covers of These Boots and Three Little Birds.
