Just because everyone else is talking about it. I liked Beck's album more than Beyonce's. Neither were my favorite, but Beck was close to my top 10, while Beyonce wasn't. Also, Kanye is still an idiot.
No, I think Beyonce was better than Our Love (metacritc agrees there too). But come on, this is the Grammys, album sales have to count for something.
Are you seriously arguing that you're right because an aggregate numbers site says so? As if people can't have differing opinions on art?
Beck winning over Beyonce was not as egregious as you (or Kanye) make it out to be.
I'm using the objective evidence available, which is that more critics liked it and a shitload more people bought it. Obviously that's not everything, but it should count for something right? Otherwise, Ya, we all just have different opinions and who cares?
The Grammy's impressed me on some levels and completely annoyed me on others.
Beck deserved it for the album. It's a really beautiful work. That stuff in headphones is honey in the ears.
I like Sam Smith, I'm not sure that the work was worth 4 Grammy's but as a fellow overweight white guy, I'm pretty satisfied.
What about Aphex Twin for best electronic album! That's a fucking nod to someone actually paying attention.
The fact that Paramore won for best rock song is a fucking disgrace.
St Vincent. Rock Solid.
Big miss to me, Sia not winning anything.
Performances, what a fucking joke. Someone OD'd on valum or something. Will someone please call Madonna and tell her that she needs to put down the lingerie and either reinvent herself as a older women or just go away. That shit was fucking embarrassing, I thought she was going to break a hip. Annie Lennox, brilliant. Made Hozier look like a piker. When a 60 year old out performs you, you should sit down.

i was laughing at watching her try and keep up with the dancers. it was really pathetic, and the fact she rolls in wearing lingerie, wtf lady, figure it out

Yes it is
Not really.
Even if we're assuming that Beyoncé had the better album (which I don't concede, nor will I argue, because I recognize that Beyoncé's album simply wasn't my cup of tea so I'm not going to judge its merits), Morning Phase got plenty of critical acclaim and wound up on any number of "best of" lists. It didn't move the numbers Beyoncé did, nor was Beck the cultural force that Beyoncé was, but a) nobody/nothing is, and b) that kind of stuff really shouldn't come into play here. The Grammys are well known for making odd choices, and this isn't even close to one of the worst. Hell, it wasn't even the worst of the night. Reasonable people can at least disagree regarding these two albums - go take a look at the hard rock/heavy metal category, both the nominees and the eventual winner, and then come on back and talk about crappy results.
Oh my god the Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj intro made me want to stick a gun to my head. Who the hell taught this piles of human excrement how to speak? For all my chastising of Madonna, at least she wasn't that trollop.

Oh wow. I did not realize Tenacious D won until your post made me go look it up. I'm a fan of the D but that just seems really strange. They're a comedy band.

There's a saying about people like Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, etc. "They're not artists, they're celebrities."

I feel like sales and cultural force definitely should matter. Certainly not the only factor, but here we are in a situation where both albums are reasonable candidates, both artists have had long distinguished careers, but one album connects with people an order of magnitude greater than the other, that should be more than enough to break the tie.
Honestly, I was just happy Sam Smith, Ed Shereen (or whatever his name is, I'm not looking it up) or Pharrell Williams (who I do like) didn't win. I would have been thrilled if Beyonce had won. But I love Beck & did love Morning Phase, so I was fine with it.
While we're at it, can't Beyonce be nominated in Best Pop Vocal Album too? Just because she's black doesn't mean she should only be in the Urban Contemporary Album category, or whatever the hell that category is called. Someone tell me that Miley Cyrus' album had better pop vocals then Bey's. And if you do, show your work please.

This. The biggest problem with the Grammy's is they nominate a lot of the wrong things and their categories are crap.

One positive thing to come out of the Kanye/Beck arguments was that it was pointed out how Kanye is a Beck fan and I had either forgot or never realized that he gives him a little shout out in an old song:
From "Get 'em High":
N-n-n-now, my flow Is in the pocket like wallets, I got the bounce like hydraulics I can't call it, I got the swerve like alcoholics My freshman year I was going through hella problems 'Til I, built up the nerve to drop my ass up out of college My teacher said I'se a loser, I told her why don't you kill me I give a fuck if you fail me, I'm gonna follow
I thought that was cool. Anyway.....I hope Beck and Kanye work together on some music.

The Annie Lennox/Hozier collaboration was my favorite of the night. I would expect a seasoned performer to outperform the new kid on the block. I thought he gave proper deference towards her during the performance. You could tell he was beyond excited to be on that stage, with her, at that moment. I can't wait to see him at the Ryman.

He's obviously not a fan. He basically he's not creative or talented. That was the biggest bullshit of it all. Fine, you think your friend Beyoncé should have won. You didn't have to insult the very talented person that did win
