Meh. Starts strong, drops off in the middle. It's true saving grace is the fact that it has what is probably the greatest ending to any album ever (of course 'The End' medley, but I think starting with She Came in Through the Bathroom Window is when it really picks back up)
If you want to talk truly perfect albums then we have Blood on the Tracks, Remain in Light, Pet Sounds..
I don't think Abbey Road really has a weak spot. The only part that's arguably weak is Because-Sun King, and even that is a wonderful piece of mood change.

I like it but I would prefer if we made our own initial list. We could all submit our own list of top 50 or whatever and then use a point system to seed albums based on our lists. While I think that list is full of amazing albums it think its way to skewed towards older albums. Were's The Knife - Silent Shout? Daft Punk - Discovery? Burial - Untrue? Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago? Madvillain - Madvillainy? Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city? I think all of these albums and many more like them will someday be on lists like these, we should give them a shot. Just a suggestion. Also in the later rounds we could have short bios/campaigns for albums we like, sort of like when we do them for artists playing at Bonnaroo. Just a suggestion. Dibs on Turn on the Bright Lights.
Glad this thread isn't letting me down. Couldn't get through one page before it became all Beatles.
Abbey Road is great, Sgt Peppers is garbage, but Sgt Peppers is gonna win the thread so it's not even worth the effort.
I'm interested in the debate that Sgt. Peppers will inevitably bring about, though. The fact that it has the Beatles' crowning jewel in songwriting doesn't mean that it deserves the "Rolling Stone" shrine like treatment it usually receives.

I think you put the wrong Marvin Gaye album up, shouldn't it be "Let's Get It On"? Any list that would put "What's Going On?" as far down as 200 would fail spectacularly.

You are correct. Thank you for pointing that out to me. Fixed it.
