Has anyone else dug into this Levon Vincent (I keep typing Levon Helm and Leon Vincent) business yet?
Yes. It's not cold. It's not desolatelike Haxan Cloak. I've trying to find the right descriptor...Slightly despairing maybe? IDK Definitely not happy. It's really good though.
Modest Mouse and Sufjan Stevens have both leaked within the last two hours. And that Kendrick news!! And all the other albums coming out this month. And all the great albums already this year. Fuckin' a, brothers and sisters, this year just keeps getting better and better.

I've spent the last hour trying to either find the leaked Modest Mouse, or find on this site where I can either find it or ask where I can find it, and I guess this thread seems like the best option...can anyone point me to it? I'm probably showing my age.
I keep going back and forth on whether I want to listen to the leaked SS and MM ahead of time or just wait for their proper, official releases. With MM, I think I'll cave because I'm going to see them this Friday, so I want to give it some solid listening time before the show. But Sufjan - man, he is my number one of all time. I kind of want to respect the process of the album release and wait it out...but I won't be surprised if I cave before March 31.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Seconded. Alternatively, if anyone who successfully downloaded the leaked album would like to be a fine chap and share it with us (via PM or dropbox), that would be wonderful.

Yea, I'm that way too...really try to avoid the leaks. Of course, half of the Modest Mouse album is already out there as singles anyway.
No big "must listen to right away" albums for me this week, but there are quite a few intriguing releases. Aero Flynn, Matthew E. White, Heems, Yowler, Will Butler, Dick Diver, I'm sure a few more will surface...so I'll be able to keep my ears busy until the official dates.

I did. It was beautiful. I cried multiple times. It's definitely one that needs processing. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be an AOTY contender for me, but it's gonna need multiple listens.
And yea yea yea blah blah aren't you special with your special show.

Okay, that's decided: my plan for tonight is to smoke a biiiiit but only a little bit then turn off the lights and listen to it from start to finish lying on my bed, door closed.
I'll be in Philly that Thursday till Sunday though probably. Any fun stuff going on that weekend? Things I should make sure to check out?

That's absolutely the right way to do it. Just a teeny bit lifted with no distractions.
And I'm a terrible tour guide of Philly - token07 can confirm this. Pat's or Geno's on Passyunk is where you wanna go for cheesesteaks, just learn how to order them first because they will send you to the back of the line if you mess it up. On the 11th there's a Life in Color party at Penn's Landing; basically it's a giant colorfest where you throw paint chalk on each other and just go crazy for a bit. $120 bucks though, so I won't be attending (though you're welcome to buy me a ticket). The Franklin Institute is a pretty awesome museum, and I believe that on Sundays the price of admission is a "voluntary" donation. Their Body Worlds exhibit is pretty neat and I think it ends April 12th. I might actually want to go check that one out myself. Philadelphia Museum of Art is nice if you like artsy things, and right behind it is Waterworks with is basically just a really pretty riverfront area with verandas and benches and stuff. Good for a picnic and it's pretty at night. That's all I got.
Edit: I'm editing this several years later and I doubt anyone will ever see this but no, Pat's & Geno's are NOT the places to go for cheesesteaks. I'm so ashamed.

Hahaha welllll unfortunately I don't even eat steak and $120 is definitely out of my price range for a paint party (though it does sound fun). I'll consider the museum advice doe And I do like rivers. You didn't entirely fail

Three words - Reading. Terminal. Market.
They have everything food-wise you could possibly want.

Finally got a listen to the new Pyramids album. If there is a "it came outta left field album", this is it.
While I know Inforoo isn't a metal kinda place, don't let this intimidate you into not listening. It incorporates soooo many different styles that it's FAR from a metal album.

Very nice, will be checking this out later this afternoon. My internet connection is pretty bad this morning.

The new Modest Mouse is better than their last.
The new Sufjan Stevens is horribly sad in places, but very beautiful. Ugh, not something I can listen to on a regular basis. It's almost TOO personal and real.
