Not sure. Last year was my first roo, so let that be known. HOWEVER, As I looked around at my neighbors last year, myself at the time (28) and the guy I was with (29) were surrounded on all sides by people 20 and under. I felt so old for the first time in my life. While it would be cool to camp next to people near my age, I think everyone has a place at roo. That's what makes the GA party unique. If we lose some, fine, but we won't lose that many. I would come to roo even if the lineup was shitty just bc of the experience. My buddy told me the other day after he was contemplating going, "I'm starting to feel like Bonnaroo is more about the experience than the music" in which I had to agree.
The music is just a part is the overall experience!
And I agree with rexmcartor 'bout the trash. We can always do better! And never feel afraid to encourage your neighbors to clean up too.

The overall experience is the hardest part to explain to people who have never been. But it's also the best part. And what keeps me going back. The lineup is merely a bonus. And discovering undercards is an additional bonus to pass the months between the lineup drop and go time.
The main target audience are people in their 20's, with just enough to draw in from the older age group. I like to see a few more veteran acts than the flavor of the month acts they book to draw people, but it is what it is. They need to stay in business.
I do wonder if the surplus of festivals and being too diverse may be hurting them. I do like they offer music that other major festivals don't book much of (World music, Jazz and Grassroots come to mind), but in honesty, they don't draw many of the concert goers that attend Bonnaroo. I also think they are not profiting as much being as diverse with their lineup and people are choosing other fests instead that are closer and cater to their musical niche. I personally like the fest because it does challenge me to venture out of my musical comfort zone and see music I would not normally see on my own.

I definitely agree that Roo makes me venture outside my usual musical comfort zone. I like a wide variety of music, but outside of Roo, I only really attend indie/alternative shows. It's nice to catch other genres while I'm on The Farm.
I'm not sure what the younger crowd you're talking about might be looking for that isn't on the bill. It's a pretty good blend this year and it seems to be about the same ratio of younger-appealing to older-appealing acts as the last couple of years. The days of record breaking attendance figures maybe over for a while, it's hard to top yourself when you've got the best already in years past, but people will always come to Bonnaroo because, well, it's Bonnaroo!

I ALWAYS discover a lot of music every year. I normally only like or know maybe 10 bands max from each lineup until I listen to it all. Every band on the line up gets at least one track listened to. If I like it I listen to more. Currently have a 30hr roo playlist to prepare. It will grow with additions.

Many of my younger friends are disappointed by the lineup and decided to go to other various fests. But in the grand scheme of things, I think the lineup will do very little to dissuade the 18-24 demographic from attending.
