Haha. When I was typing that, this is basically the response I expected from you. I am correct in remembering that UNC's defense isn't supposed to be anything special, right? If so, it might be a long year for SC.
I thought Mitch looked pretty awful in the first half, and the wildcat packages looked like they had never been practiced. I would think that the offense will improve in the next couple of weeks, but I wouldn't expect much more out of this team than they accomplished last year.

I don't believe they have a QB. If I were them I would put Cooper at QB and run the option.

Speaking of which, that series where they did a direct snap to a RB then had Cooper drop a forty yard bomb into triple coverage the next play was some odd play calling.

Yea, Cooper can actually throw the ball, pretty sure he was a QB in hs. The problem is they have no WRS. The one they were counting on got hurt last night.

I am sure. They wouldn't put him in at qb if he couldn't throw, but that was a bad throw he took in that series. Even if it hadn't been overthrown by five yards, the receiver would have to have beat triple coverage to catch it which is quite the task even for a good receiver.

Yea, you know Spurrier, he was just trying to make something happen. He always does weird things. Some work out. Like Shon Carson, who hadn't played, going for that long td and a few more good runs after that. Then you ask why he only had 4 carries?

I didn't ask that at all. It's more a question of why you are trying a bunch of tricky plays when your offense can't even do the basic ones right.

He's always done that. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. They got lucky last night that UNC"s QB played so bad. He made terrible throws that cost them the game. Also their coach was an idiot for not having that big RB in the game when they got inside the 10. He was running all over SC. He was visibly angry about it too, they kept showing him on the sideline.

We all know that this just means they're gonna beat Georgia somehow.

Agreed on last night being more of a matter of which team sucked less than who was actually good. It very much reaffirmed me being glad that Tennessee didn't hire Fedora.
In other news, should I be happy that Michigan lost because it will bring the Harbaugh hype back to a place of reality (he's a great coach but he needs players) or sad because some idiot analyst will blow it out of proportion and question if he can actually turn Michigan around?

They're talking about Harbaugh now on the radio. He'll turn it around if he stays, but the question is how long will he stay?
I think TN is about to be in the same position. What's going to happen after they get blown out by OK?

Are you implying butch will leave, UT will fire him, or ESPN will go on and on about it?
There's. O chance of the first two, for the time being, and Butch doesn't have the mythos around him like hatbaugh does.
Also kept it competitive for part of the game last year with fewer veterans, a worse QB, and in Norman. I don't necessarily think we will win, but I don't expect a blowout in acheckered Neyland. I trust in rocketman.

ESPN going on about it and fans with sky high expectations to go into melt down mode. I think OK is going to be a lot better this year. TN is going to be better too. I don't think that game will be close.

You can't underestimate the fact that it is a big time program and his alma mater. If he starts putting up a bunch of W's, Michigan will compensate him with a very large contract until he chooses to retire or move back to the NFL, and with a college program, he has the ability to have more control over the team than he would likely ever get in the NFL. Given all that, I could see him staying a long time if he is successful. Then again, I could also see him leaving because the NFL is more prestigious and such.
First, I doubt Tennessee will get blown out by Oklahoma. I am by now means saying we are going to win, but I do think it will be closer than last year. Second, I believe the majority of the fanbase is not thinking that a W against Oklahoma is a given. The most common prediction I have seen regarding Tennessee this year is 8-4 in the regular season. People know losses are going to happen. They just expect more wins than last year and for the losses to be closer. If you wanted a game where people would be start to question Jones more, you would have to look at early rivalry games like Florida because Florida is expected to have such a down year this year and their streak against us is longer than anybody here likes and Georgia because Tennessee has been so close to beating them the last two years or late SEC games like Missouri where it should affect what bowl Tennessee goes to and possibly the SEC East champion since Missouri and Tennessee have been brought up frequently as potential winners of the East.

Also, on this, there are always unrealistic fans that go into meltdown mode whenever your team loses. They unfortunately tend to be the ones that populate local sports radio rendering it unlistenable.

This. The Florida game is a must-win this year in terms of fan expectations and a loss there would reduce any chance of an East title significantly.
And UT winning the East? Haha, you guys are funny.
You still got time to pick, I think.
I didn't say Tennessee was going to win the East. They are in the conversation more than they have been in years, and the idea isn't laughable anymore for sure.

It's not going to be SC or Vandy. So your odds are not that bad.

I didn't realize Cormac McCarthy was a fan of puke orange.

Or Kentucky. Even with that, only the most delusional of Tennessee fans have given Tennessee any chance of winning the East for a good many years.
