monday around noon until midnight may have been some of the fastest hardest snow falling that i've ever seen in my life. didn't even go to work yesterday because they hadn't plowed my townhome complex driveways yet and couldn't even get out of the garage pretty much. so i cracked a beer, packed a bowl, and turned on Community.
I was feeling particularly lucky that I lived an hour north of all that bullshit until tonight when, during my drive to work that usually takes about four minutes, I got stuck in nearly three snowbanks, including my building's parking lot. fuck this.
Last Tuesday and Wednesday we had record warmth up here (60s/70s), then it snowed a little on Thursday. Then it's rained parts of each of the last few days. Now we going for much warmer than normal again next week, and getting alerted about a major storm next Friday roughly with as of now unknown precip types.

The hurricane warnings for tonight include the county where I live, and we've already established that we have some unstable trees in our yard. We've been trying to get the tree service out to cut a couple of them down, but it's been weeks and weeks, and they haven't come yet, so I guess they're going to get a good testing out tonight. We live right on the edge of the county, and the nearby counties all have tropical storm warnings instead of hurricane warnings, so I'm holding out hopes that we just get the tropical storm part and not the hurricane part, but that's not really how our luck has run this year.

Fingers crossed for you! If they fall, I hope it's far from your house <3

Plenty of limbs in the yard. A couple smallish ones on the roof, but I don’t think there’s any major damage. As far as I know, we never lost power. Everything seems pretty calm here this morning.

Good to hear. I've got family in Tallahassee who said the same thing. Some FSU affiliated housing was evacuated.
The poor panhandle though. Panama City and nearby towns are wrecked.
I woke up at 5:30 to lightning and very loud thunder right overhead. I’d been hearing it my sleep for a while, and our street floods pretty often. Two of the cars had water to the frame and the truck was close. I got them all moved. Unfortunately Prius chump who stole one of our driveway spots was not so lucky.
To all my New Orleans folks on here (and the rest of the TX/LA/MS Gulf Coast), let's all try to stay safe this weekend. I'm still debating on if we should leave the city for a few days or not. This could be the straw that breaks the camel's back, but I sure hope not.
With how long this thing's taking to develop a real core, I'm hoping its running out of time to really develop into anything much more than TS or TD at landfall.
The highest threat from Barry was always the flooding potential - heavy rains for days mixed with storm surge and everything coming down river already. Winds were a secondary concern, even if it just cracks hurricane status.
I can tell you first hand as someone who has been hunkered down since Thursday night with supplies and prep, Barry has been very pleasantly boring. It's barely rained at all. I guess it's still early, but we dodged a bullet this time.
I can also say that cabin fever in the AC with tv and internet is a lot better than cabin fever in August heat with no power for close to a week (like Isaac in 2012).
