Whether you like it or not, he is a roll model. He's been on TV for over 15 years. I'm glad he's stepping up and telling people not to make the same mistakes as him.
Are you implying this make's me "doughy"? Perhaps. But I'm not going to judge some guy I've never met to the point where I convince myself he shouldn't be trying to help make a difference. He already has the stigma of a-hole murderer, so he should be allowed to try and reverse that stigma. I think complaining about Ray Lewis telling kids to stop destroying the city is pretty low on the list of things to complain about.
Hold on here. I think characterizing his role in a double homicide as a mistake is soft-selling it a bit. He has distanced himself from the situation by settling the case both legally and civilly out of court. He paid money and made the situation go away. Then he stayed out of trouble. You know who else didn't get into trouble in the last fourteen years? Most other non-murdering NFL players. He doesn't get extra credit because he stopped being involved in people being stabbed to death.
I am not denying that he is looked at as a role model by some, I just don't think that it's a good thing. Sticking in the Baltimore area, Ravens fans wore Ray Rice jerseys after the video of him knocking his wife unconscious surfaced. He may have been a role model to them but that doesn't mean it's a good thing.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's better that he is saying the right things than the wrong ones. I would just prefer that he just shut up instead.
At least I don't have to watch him during draft coverage...
Well he's an American citizen now, just like you and I. With that freedom, he's allowed to tell people to stop doing things he disagrees with, especially considering he has an audience. I'm sure there are thousands of people inspired by what Ray Lewis has said. There's a big difference between telling someone to shut up, and ignoring them. I just don't see the point in caring about what Ray has to say.
LOL. I am not denying that he has the right to speak up. I just think that he shouldn't.
I don't see the point in caring that somebody else cares about what he has to say. We're just going to have not see eye to eye on this issue.

I suppose I enjoy sticking up for those who aren't here to defend themselves. People are in here casting judgement, telling him he should shut up, and I disagree with the idea of it all. Let Ray speak to his community. I have no issues with not seeing eye to eye though. Carry on.
FTR - I didnt say he shouldnt, couldnt, or wouldnt try to convey a message to a large audience in Baltimore. I said it was ironic that someone who "allegedly" killed someone (whether you think he did or didnt, he was never convicted) is delivering an Anti-violence message. Just wanted to throw that in there. Carry On
Yupp. I see nothing wrong with one criminal telling others that violence isn't the answer. It's not like he pulled you aside and told you violence wasn't the answer. He's speaking to his city. To people who look up to him (whether they should or not). He's telling rioters to stop rioting. It's really nobody's business (unless you're from Baltimore of course). He might have needed to learn things the hard way, but you've clearly made up your mind on who Ray Lewis is as a person already, so there's no use in going any further. I see no reason to hold Ray Lewis' past against him in a situation where he's trying to help his community.

Unfortunately in the tweets from Ray I read he doesn't mention the impact violent behavior had on his life or those around him as a young man. I'd like to see more of that. Whether you view him as hypocritical or not it's still commendable he is trying to take positive action. He could have just as well went and worked draft coverage for ESPN. I don't see Cal Ripken or Ozzie Newsome out publicly trying to calm the storm.
Would it be worth it for the Saints to trade the 13th and 31st picks for the 3rd or 4th pick and grab Leonard Williams? And, would the 13th and 31st be good enough to land the 3rd or 4th pick?

1 - No. It's a trade back draft. The Saints have several holes to fill and would benefit more by doing so than drafting any one player. 2 - No. You'd need to add a bit more most likely.
Shane Ray? That marijuana citation is troubling. Dude has a ton of talent though.
Yup, a bit of a risk but he would have been gone a lot earlier if not for weed thing, so the potential is definitely there. I think we've got the veterans to keep him from doing something stupid. If he gets his shit together it'll be a steal.

Oh yeah. If he keeps it together, he can be great. Hopefully, that'll happen.
I can't believe the Pats got (my fellow longhorn) Malcolm Brown with 32. Watching him fall made me think he was just another overrated UT player, but we know the Pats have one of the best front offices in the league. They got an absolute steal.
Happy about my Cowboys pick. We got a freak athelete at an urgent need position. Unfortunately, I do think it spells the end of super bust Mo Claiborne.
I read this morning that the Eagles offered "two first-round picks, a third-round pick, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, linebacker Mychal Kendricks, cornerback Brandon Boykin" for the Titans' second pick. OUCH. If they passed that up then the Titans deserve to be bad forever. That's one quarter of a starting defense and more picks!

Yeah especially since the Titans need help at so many positions. They must really think highly of Mariota or really poorly of Mettenberger.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to that. Not sure I believe we'd offer it, and I'm pretty damn sure the Titans would have accepted it. I've had a feeling all along that this was all media nonsense regarding Mariota. It makes more sense to me that the Titans have been creating all of these ridiculous rumors for the number 2 pick to try and garner interest.
Though I don't think the Eagles offered that much for Mariota. That seems unreasonably excessive, or there's some catch to it - like the Philly players all have large contracts.

I feel like it's the latter. I mean the one plus Tennessee gets out of this pick is a QB competition in camp. HOWEVER, if Mariota doesn't start then everyone will perceive taking him at two to be a blunder. So in reality there's no competition, Mettenberger is relegated to backup and is waiting for Mariota to get hurt behind their bottom five offensive line. It's really a travesty so many teams build from QB out.
@black Dynamite: I just know what is reported. Though I had personally thrown out any chance the Eagles move up a few weeks ago. That's from Ian Rapoport and I tend to believe what he says. I also think Chip feels like the Eagles are a good QB away from being SB contenders. Getting a young one that you know fits your system is worth betting the house.

They all have expiring contracts after next year, but still, any GM makes that trade IMO.

Yeah, there was a lot being reported yesterday and most of it was nonsense. Jay Cutler, Phillip Rivers, Fletcher Cox, etc. Peter King, Schefter, and the local guys were all reporting that those rumors were false, that Mariota is going to the Titans, and that Chip didn't even get around to an offer that large because the Titans priced everybody out. I just don't buy it. I believe we got into talk with the teams at the top, but this Mariota business might be the craziest media speculation I've ever seen.
Peat and Anthony? So boring. I'm pretty disappointed
Anthony is going to be a good one. I was surprised he went in the first round though.
I am not surprised that you said that, Sang, since he is from Clemson. However, after doing more research on the guy, I'm glad we got him. The team had him very highly rated and must've thought he would be gone by the 44th pick. I think he will work out well.

I wouldn't be.
Peat was the most natural LT in this draft, and Anthony's my favorite ILB/MLB. If you guys go secondary in the second I'd say that's perfect.
My biggest beef is the Peat pick because he will not be an instant starter. We didn't have a glaring need at tackle. Guard would've made much more sense. If our picks were DeVante Parker and Anthony, I would be much, much more excited.

Believe it or not, I don't believe everyone that plays at Clemson is going to be an NFL star. CJ, Nuk, Sammy, Vic Beasley, Daquan Bowers, that's about it. Anthony is solid though, he'll play in the league for a while.
