thanks to Bun, my sister and i watched the game in a barn in pod 2 with a million other pens fans and a single sharks fan. it was incredible and exciting to share that moment with a bunch of strangers. we all jumped off tables and cheered and hugged and it made me feel completely okay about not being in the city for another cup. SPORTS!

I'm so happy to hear you caught the game! I figured you'd be there, how could you miss that? I was home by that time and watched it from my couch. The pens fans were crazy to be around during game 5 so I can't even imagine what it was like when they actually won the cup.
Kessel had what, 3 points more than Crosby? I'm a Buffalo area native and sports fan, surrounded by Pittsburgh fans my whole life. It sucks, but I'll admit it. He is unreal. Crosby's leadership and pure hockey skills are unmatched by anyone on his team. His game is so complete and he displayed that the entire series. I watched nearly every game of these playoffs. Put him on a team like Buffalo next year and we are a contender. There is no one like him.

as nice as it would have been to hear mike lange call the game, this was so much better. i'm so glad you told us where to watch, it totally made the experience perfect.
That doesn't stop teams from calling about him. Those calls are what gets reported. But that's boring, so why not say Subban is rumoured to be traded...
Sensationalism people!!!!!
Edit: thought this was I the political thread... Lol
Habs would be stupid to trade subban. He's the face of the team.
i mean, if it wasn't for their goaltender of course. Regardless, I agree. You can't just replace a talent like that. We have an emerging 1st line C (FINALLY!!). Just need some more firepower on the wings and a few key depth players, maybe a Big shut down D, and Habs will be good to go. To trade subban, would be waving a white flag on the next couple seasons, those of which are Carey Price's prime years. It's do or die time for the Habs, not trade stars and rebuild.
I don't blame the media for jumping on Subban trade rumours. But what people need to remember, is the Habs were the 3rd best team in the league a season ago, and not to fault Mike Condon, but Habs missed the playoffs because Price missed 69 games. Habs are not a desperate rebuilding team. They just happen to rely heavily on the best goalie in the game.

How did I forget about price?!? Yes I agree with everything you've said. Hopefully all these rumors are just media manufactured.
I heard on radio here, the GM from Vancouver was openly talking about inquiring about Subban, on some station in Vancouver.
That's why I brought it up. Boston people said it would be foolish to give him up, but we'd like him out of the division.
yeah, I'd be shocked if 1/2 the league wasn't at least touching base after how things appeared with Subban and the coach/teammates. But Montreal is the most scrutinized team in terms of media and rumours and shot, and everything is always made out to be worse than it is. Bottom line is Bergivan would not got to the lengths he's gone to just to cover up back room dealings. If he was trading Subban, he would avoid the subject entirely. He's a man of his reputation, and has his eye on the long game.
But.... Anything is possible these days. If a trade did occur, I highly doubt it would have a draft pick coming back to Montreal. It would have to have huge, game ready return

Weber work?
YUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPP!!!
This deal is so complex! Subban will sell more tickets in Nashville than Webber could. Carey Price will be facing far less shots next season. Subban wouldn't be a guy to Lead the Habs to a cup, Webber is. Webber will be on the strong decline by the time sub and contract ends anyway. Habs get 2-3 good years from Webber (also the length of Price's contract, and arguable his most prime years aka, Habs window to win)
Subban was electrifying to watch, Webber will make the team better and much stronger.
Sad to see Subban go, but I couldn't have asked for a better replacement (Short of Drew Doughty)
Have you watched Weber over the past couple of years? He is already slowing down. Preds fans complain he has started taking nights off. Josi was the preds best d-man last year.

that's a phrase going around a lot. But statistics seem to show a different story. He's coming off is 3rd 20+ goal season (Subban has yet to score 20). 14 power play goals is a career high for Webber (Subban has yet to hit 10 or more), and that's all while not being needed to produce as much as he's needed, with Josi having a career year.
Subban may have all these wonderful advanced stats for corsi and fenwick and blah blah blah... But the Habs are full of D men who can move the puck. Webber isn't that kind of D man. He a "you're not gonna stand in front of this net anymore" kinda player. He blocks more shots, causes more turnovers, and all out plays better in his own end than Subban. Carey Price is going to have a much easier season this year, and with Kurk Muller back behind the bench to coach the power play that he once had rolling as the 1# unit in the league BEFORE Subban was the stud he is today, I can't see why people are calling this trade soo lop sided.
You are the first habs fan I've seen actually be happy about the trade.
But can we all agree that the oilers made the worst trade yesterday.
i guess I'm not really happy with it. Who knows what would have happened if we kept Subban. I'm just the forever optimist, and I see the upside and stratigy behind the move. It can work. Long term, it's a bad deal, but right now, it had potential to be a brilliant move.
And yeah. Peter Charreli is by far the dumbest GM in NHL history, and I felt that way before he was in Edmonton.
That was a terrible trade for Montreal. It doesn't even make sense in the short term. Nashville clear and away won that deal. If the Habs get off to a slow start next season the coach and management will be chased out of town by a very angry fan base.
PK should flourish in Nashville without Therrien's leash on.
PK is out of one the hardest media cities hockey wise and is coming to a city that is far more concerned about college sports. There will be so much less pressure for him and not to mention he will be on a contending roster that made it to game 7 of the second round. I'm gonna get tickets for when the habs come to town

Weber probably played his worst games in the playoffs against the Sharks. He has lots of miles and slowing down. Montreal got what they needed in a big quiet solid D-man(better for locker room). Nashville got as dynamic a player as possible in the NHL. Plus he is setup to be an absolute star in Nashville. His off the ice contributions will endear him to heavily to Nashville sport fans that pay heavy attention to those kind of things. On the ice, Roman josi and Subban is just nasty. The Preds are all in to win in the next 3-4 years.
That said, I wish Shea the best. Hope he is successful in Red. Go Preds! Time for PK to help make the Preds the premier hockey franchise in the South.
