Hangout will have to book Gorillaz next year to make up for this year. It wont happen, though.
If they're associating with AEG/Goldenvoice for their own fest, it's highly likely they'll be headlining Coachella (Blur headlining in 2013 shows Albarn has a strong relationship with them).
...but evident from this year's lineups, Coachella and Hangout have little to nothing in terms of crossover (DJ Snake and Marshmello, fugh). and I'm sure Gorillaz know they'll be just fine doing their own solo tour. Would they hit tha South though? It would be pretty awesome if they got booked for Hangout. It would definitely be enough to bring me back after a 2 year hiatus.
I just think they're too big for HO. Coachella, Firefly and Lolla, if that. While popular in US, theyre def more popular in Europe and will get top dollar there.
Look at their Glasto production and I doubt it could even fit on the mainstage.
none of those acts are worth 50 anyway at least. lame to only announce 4 of them.
The instagram post alludes that if you buy a hangout ticket before this Thursday at 12 you get a promo code so that it's $30. So yeah its gonna stay at 40 or 50
Those are okay I guess. I'm not much of a fan of Cherub live, though I acknowledge their talent. I also don't really like Tchami. Migos should be fun, and DJ Jazzy Jeff is good enough (we saw him play the parking lot at Deluna 2012).
Better though, it looks like they will be opening up a $500,000,000 amusement park in Foley about 10 miles north of the Gulf in May.

Only four acts seems really weak but Tchami or DJ Jazzy Jeff have to be closing down the boom boom tent. This also leads me to believe they aren't using the Mermaid stage for the preparty this year unless they add smaller acts.

wonder is sales arent as good as expected then
Probably not terribly off, just a different and less reliable demographic*. They usually have double the acts, so they'll probably add more to the pre-party down the line. I'd go see Migos if I was down there, but I'm not going to drive down there just to see them.
In November, Live for Live Music said what a lot of us have been saying for a couple of years with the slow burial of jam at Hangout (which built Hangout into the cool thing it was) now complete. Goldenvoice knows what they're doing, but it's hard to please everyone. And with a lineup that's mostly geared toward 15-22 year olds, they're going to continue losing many of their old-timers each year.

Agreed joe. That lineup was great, but we didn't start going until 2012. I still love 2013 the best, but I had so much fun at 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Other than ragging about the blue heat in 2012 and 2013, I used to defend Hangout pretty hard against the idea that it was a giant roid-raging frat party on the beach. It's always going to be a little bit of that, but it really wasn't ever douchey. We met tons of cool people every year and just had a lot of fun in that environment. But in the end, it's about the music since it's a 1,000 weekend for me between eating, drinking and tickets. Since I don't live in the Mobile MSA or down in southern Baldwin County, without enough music to justify the expense, we just quit going. I'm probably always going to look forward to the lineup release, but it will take a serious lineup adjustment to get me interested again.
But like I said a few times, there's definitely some good shit on this year's lineup. And there's probably a lot of good like Frank Ocean that doesn't appeal to me but still will probably be worth seeing.

Im excited for the 4 names we got today but jeez they rly know how to drag this out. Not sure if I should take this as the full Thursday lineup or just a half. I know they're gunna do me right and put Portugal in that headliner Matt & Kim slot.
