TØP gets a good bit of hate on this site for not being considered headliner status and for making "corny" music but PLEASE give them a chance live if you haven't seen them. Such great performers that can be appreciated whether you like the music or not.
I think they're decent but it is the headliner status that is crunchy. I will give em a chance but it does suck that we could have had a different headliner like the Strokes, LCD Soundsystem, Kendrick, ect. Similars feelings arise with bands like Imagine Dragons, Bastille, ect. They are good bands but they don't have headliner catalogs, production or presence. Has 21P earned headliner status? Yes. 2016 they tore apart the billboards. It still leaves much to be desired especially from the older than 25 crowd. Musically, they are still a drummer and singer/pianist playing to varying backing tracks which really doesn't translate well to a live setting especially when you are a rock band. Full bands, even when hidden elsewhere, lead to a better, more connect, more powerful show.
Ironically enough, when Mutemath joined them for TOPxMM, a lot of comments from fans were that they enjoyed the MM produced tracks/remixes than the originals. I do hope they collaborate on this.
Meh same stuff ppl said about the weekend @ #1 last year. Now he's a great catch 11 months later on the roo lineup.. the way I look at it get em outta the way this year and on to the next one for 2018. Bet we see 21p headline roo next year and the goal post will move again.

Who said that? I realize he has some fans, but I don't think there are many Bonnaroo fans who are clamoring for The Weeknd. Bonnaroo's draw is mixed, because there is great shit and absolute terribleness in the first 4 or 5 lines. Consider:
Greatness (or at least Decent):
U2
RHCP
Chance
The XX
Travis Scott
Cage
Head and Heart
Big G
Umphrey's
Portugal. The Man
Terrible (or at least pretty bad):
The Weeknd
Major Lazer
Flume
Marshmello
Future Islands (sorry to all of you, they are annoying)
Tove Lo
Crystal Castles
Leaves out only Lorde and Tory Lanez, take it or leave it acts.

We have very similar musical tastes esteban but this one disagreement chaps my ass.
Hey, Sparky. You've probably already said this and I just missed it cause I've been such a loser trying to keep up this year. When are you planning on coming down? I'm assuming Thursday, but wanted to check and make sure.
Whatever floats your boat. I'm more interested in the performers the majority of us agree on and looking forward to an Inforoo throwdow on the sand.
Anybody not going to Hangout pre-party interested in meeting at a local bar for drinks? Somebody's pool? I'm thinking I'll hit up a cab for that party, drink my weekend full in one night and cab back to the casa.

Unlike most years, I am not particularly interested in the preparty. So, I'm down. Is there a place that would be easy for east and west folks to meet?

I can see where you're coming from cmack I like 21 Pilots and still wasn't wanting them as headliners but also with their records last year I think they earned and I've seen them 3 times and personally think they translate live pretty great but that's me everyone will have different opinions and that's cool too honestly.
I haven't tried to get around by car on Thursday night, or any night during the festival. Maybe someone else has. May have to try and get together during the festival. I think someone said the detailed schedule should be out May 6th.
Hungover at work on Saturday. Here's the Instagram clip of me crowd surfing @ Diarrhea Planets set getting stuck under one of their guitarists on an inflatable donut.

That was the wildest set I saw that day!! Later on, I saw The Planet at Bonnaroo do a 0100 set in that little 'Bud Light' stage that was even wilder! Love me some Planet!
As for Future Islands, Mr. Herring can quote 21P "My name is blurryface & I don't care what you think" ;-)
26 Days til Pre-Party. Here is a little Lukas and Louis....
Lukas Graham - Lukas Graham is a Danish pop and soul band. It consists of lead vocalist Lukas Forchhammer, drummer Mark Falgren, and bassist Magnus Larsson. The band released their first album, Lukas Graham, with labels Copenhagen Records and Then We Take the World in 2012. The album peaked at number one on the Danish charts. Their second album was released in 2015 and earned international attention with singles like "Mama Said" and "7 Years", the latter of which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 list (among other countries' charts). The self-titled global debut album was officially released in the United States by Warner Bros. Records on 1 April 2016. (Wiki)
Louis the Child - Louis the Child is a Chicago-based music duo consisting of Robby Hauldren and Freddy Kennett. They are best known for their singles, "It's Strange", "Weekend", and "Fire".Robert David Hauldren was born on September 7, 1996 to David Gerard Hauldren (born March, 1964) and Julia Nel (Morrison) Hauldren (born December, 1965). His paternal grandfather was Lynn Hauldren. His father is of British, Irish, and German descent, and his mother is of German, Austrian, Russian and Polish descent. He grew up in a family of musicians, artists, and athletes in Northfield, IL. He attended one academic year at the University of Southern California before opting to take a leave and further pursue music. Hauldren primarily DJed and made mashups under the alias Haul Pass throughout 2011.
Frederic Judson Kennett was born on October 19, 1997 to Jon Barry Kennett (born May 11, 1966) and Anne Rebecca (Moyer) Kennett (born July 1965). He is of English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and German descent, his most recent immigrant ancestor being his great-great-grandfather John James (1870-1948), who was born in London. He focused on musical production under the alias Fatboy, while completing high school. Though both musicians were students at New Trier High School in Winnetka, IL (Hauldren in the class of 2015 and Kennett in the class of 2016), the two met at a concert. They then began to bond at New Trier's DJ club, which they both attended after school days in 2012.
Louis the Child started playing at small venues through 2013 and 2014. In 2015, the band rose in popularity with the release of their single "It's Strange". The single garnered praise from artists such as Taylor Swift, who added "It's Strange" as one of her "Songs that Will Make Life Awesome" and was featured on the FIFA 16 soundtrack. They later opened for artists such as Madeon and The Chainsmokers. The duo embarked on their own tour on October 17, 2015, starting in Chicago.
Since then, Louis the Child has performed at many major music festivals such as Coachella, the Electric Forest Festival, Electric Zoo New York and Lollapalooza and Corona Capital.
In December 2016, Louis The Child joined force with Pell and created the band Pellican Child. A first single, "Turn Me Down", is released ahead of a 6-track EP due for early 2017. Louis The Child was the opening act for the European leg of the Shelter Live Tour. (Wiki)

Thumbs up for Lukas Graham, NSM for Louis the Child. A significant number of artists this year sound like Ed Sheeran (sounds like he hasn't got through puberty yet - def alto). He would have fit in really well with this lineup.
