Personally speaking, I'm looking forward to another trip to Louisville for Forecastle. I can understand people being underwhelmed by the initial lineup drop, but for me, it's a sold start - and for full disclosure, I've been a big fan of The Avett Brothers since they released Emotionalism. I figure the price of a ticket is worth it for me based on seeing these acts (And I still need to research some unfamiliar names): - The Avett Brothers - Ryan Adams - Ben Harper - Alabama Shakes - Death Cab - Gary Clark Jr. - Dr. Dog - Sylvan Esso - Grouplove - Moon Taxi - Phosphorescent - Shakey Graves - White Denim - Bully - Speedy Ortiz - All Them Witches Yes, I've seen every one of the acts listed above, save for Speedy Ortiz, White Denim and Bully, but it's getting harder and harder for fests to attract out-of-left-field bookings, particularity for someone like me who spends all his disposable income on going to shows and fests. I also wouldn't be surprised if they announce some more top-tier acts. There's no way, based on the last few Forecastles, the three headliners are going to be the top three acts currently listed. The Avetts will stay there, but I could see Alabama Shakes and Ryan Adams dropping to pre-headliner status.
We're not going to know until after the Bonnaroo lineup release, most likely. I had a thought the other day that perhaps we're missing a few of the middle-tier or pre-headliner ones, and that those names might be held back until mid-February because ticket sales will be slower then and Bonnaroo's lineup and sale will be in full swing. The only hole in that theory is that I believe that Death Cab and Ryan Adams are fairly likely for Roo.
Without any jam bands on the lineup, I think we can expect someone like Dead & Co., Gov't Mule or maybe Greg Allman. After someone in that genre, then maybe Paolo Nutini, Chris Stevenson , Nathaniel Ratliff & the Night Sweats or Needtobreathe, Switchfoot, but one I would like to see at Forecastle is Slightly Stoopid. Lesser knowns, maybe Rev. Peyton & his big Damn Band, and Giddion Luke & Friends. Anyone else with any ideas ?

Interesting thing to note. Bandsintown is reporting that Pokey Lafarge is playing the Forecastle Festival on Saturday at 7pm. They are currently not on the lineup so I wonder if there will be adds soon.
Friday: Belle Of Louisville - SNBRN w/ Shaun Frank Headliners - Lorn Huron w/ San Fermin Mercury Ballroom - Talib Kweli
Saturday: Belle - Jamie XX Headliners - White Reaper w/ King Tuff Mercury Ballroom - The Floozies
I can't remember how much they all were, but if I recall, Jamie xx was the most expensive at $25.
For what the festival is like overall, I'd look at reviews from last year. Most people who went have them on this page of last year's thread (http://inforoo.com/thread/33869/forecastle-festival-2015-july-17?page=31)

Yes, there are late nights. Here's the list from last year.

Thanks Dave, Im tying to convince my group to leave roo(barring some major suerprise)
I'm a big fan of this festival. If you've got a big enough group (like 5-8), I'd recommend going thru Forecastle's website and getting a quite at the Galt House. Gigantic rooms only like 3 blocks from the festival grounds. It's pretty ideal when Mother Nature decides to start hating Sam Smith and tries to smite everyone in Louisville.
Even if you don't stay downtown, the parking around the festival site is usually only $5-10 per day, and traffic isn't nearly as bad as you'd expect (considering the entire highway system downtown is a disaster)
TacticalTurtleneck thanks for the info. I see additions expected next week. Might help me and my group make a quick decision.
No problem. The late nights are pretty affordable too ($25 at most). I've stayed outside city limits a few times, but last year we did the Galt for my bachelor party and I'm now sold on always splitting that hotel room between friends.

Awesome. I'll def look into it. I'm hoping for the best tonight. But if it goes as expected my plan is checking out forecastle this year
I say it's Dead and Company ... you have the band members at the top + John Mayer with notes indicating he is singing and then 22 paper dolls below which is a lyrical reference from his last album.
Maybe...that's a bass guitar though?...Hard Working Americans?
I mostly say that because of the flower in the pocket & the "artist returning" portion of the clue. I just figured it was a dumb guitar emoj with it having two strings & 5 tunning pegs, but I think you're right that its supposed to be a bass guitar.

I think it is definitely The Arcs. Flowing in the pocket plus returning artist. No only is Dan returning but the bassist Nick Movshon has played with Charles Bradley, The Black Keys and Sharon Jones so I would assume he has played Forecastle at least once with one of those bands.

The top guys are the "pedestrian" emoji but going the opposite way? The middle emoji is someone bowing. Not that that really helps at all. I am in on this for sure if its Dead and Co. but Im not getting my hopes up.

Gotta be The Arcs. The Black Keys have played Forecastle multiple times.

I'm pretty excited to see the rest of the additions. I love going to forecastle & plan on at least getting a day pass for whatever day Ryan Adams plays, but if they can get a few really nice adds I would think about getting a full weekend pass. The Arcs would be a good start.
