All them witches. Dark act = witchcraft. John Hathorne was the judge who sentenced them. John Proctor was one of the convicted witches. Dirt Preacher is their new song

I mean they've had Slayer, why not Judas Priest. And LN most likely....HOLY SHIT if this comes to fruition. I'm coming back to the farm!
i wish it was father john misty but judas priest makes sense.
Explanations I've seen are too much of a stretch. What's your logic?
judas = "dark act" in the bible... priest... preachers... heck i don't know. i just feel like they wouldn't give us a clue with the artist's name (kind of) in it. but then, i remember they did the whole "bobby" plant thing, so maybe this is fjm. i just know i hate whoever makes these stupid things.

Yeah I've moved to team Judas Priest on this one. I really want FJM but it's not him, at least not with this clue (he's also in Europe all May, then again in July so it's doubtful he'll be there at all).

Would make sense to bring them back, too. With their new album out, they could hold down an opening tent spot.

I really want this to be Judas Priest but I have trouble seeing them in a tent sunce they play arenas and I can't imagine Roo giving them What or Which.
Could it possibly be Testament? They have no dates in June. With songs like Practice What You Preach and Souls of black, they could possibly fit the first bit. John is a book in the New Testament so he would probably disapprove of them being a Testament.
It's probably Priest. I'm just having trouble wrapping my mind around placement.
I'm going All Them Witches. While I'm guessing FJM will be there, that doesn't really fit the first part of the clue at all. How is he a preacher of a dark act? Also the pluralization of "Preachers" implies that the band name is also plural

Preacher of a dark act because "Father" can be a preacher, dark act because his music is pretty cynical, almost dark comedy. Could have added an s to preacher(s) as a mistake or to throw people off, but he does have a band.

I think this makes sense. (Didn't know the Hathorne bit.) Also, Roo loves rebooking bands on the rise. They're playing Forecastle and Nelsonville after a mini-Europe tour, so looks like they'll be on the US fest circuit.
I don't think it's FJM because I don't think they'd explicitly reference John in the clue. Judas Priest seems too rare.

I just don't buy it. As much as I love FJM (and again, am pretty certain he'll be at Roo), All Them Witches makes much more sense. And witchcraft is a far darker act than FJM's music.

Same. Judas Priest seems too big for a tent, but would enough people be there for a late night on the Which Stage? I guess Alice Cooper and Billy Idol played a LN tent. Maybe Judas Priest would fit that category? Now I'm just wondering, when Bonnaroo books certain acts, do they already have in mind what slot they would play? Or do they sometimes just book things they think would be cool and figure it out later.
Anyways, I don't know much about em, but All Them Witches seems to make the most sense from what I'm reading so far. But Judas Priest could be like one of those unique bookings Bonnaroo does every year.
