Great start to 2016 - the new Daughter album is beautiful. I think Blackstar might be one of Bowie's best albums. I appreciate Ty Segall but I am not a die hard fan... with that said, I love his new album. Savages broke my Top 10 AofY with their last album and I haven't even got to hear theirs yet (has it leaked? I can't find it anywhere). 2016 is going to be an excellent year for music.
With that said... I think someone should check on Frank Ocean and make sure he's okay. Did he just decide to hole himself up in his home with that unreleased album and enjoy it all for himself?

RIGHT?!
I'm not even actively mad anymore. Just confused...
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Do we want this thread to be the de facto new music discussion thread this year, or should we start another one? I'd like to discuss the dope new songs Operators played on NYE.
This is why I originally tried to keep DISCUSSION out of this thread, because I didn't want to take it away from already established threads like this one...
I like coming in here when I'm at the record store and seeing artists and album names without having to search on my phone too much, but that's just my O. I think you're idea is correct. I will use your thread for discussion.

Tried getting into Daughter by first listening to their previous album, and I think that sullied the second album for me. Felt trapped in a depression vortex for two hours, yikes. I'll try again some other time this month.
i'm still anxiously awaiting sia, but anderson paak is my easy front runner right now. i don't think it made the cheat sheet, so i'm happy you guys mentioned it.
Easily Anderson this month. Other than him, I'd go Steven Wilson, Chairlift or Migos.
This is the album that I wanted out of TPAB. Will most people disagree with me there? Likely, but I didn't dig it as much as 99% of the rest of the world did. This is hitting the spot.

Not a big fan of Daughter's album honestly. Mix isn't very great, songwriting kinda just plods along to nowhere, the "emotion" just feels a bit artificial. Some poorly written post rock with another generic breathy female vocalist, oh joy.
So far I've listened to Hinds, Daughter, Ty Segall and Savages. I've only gone through the latter three once and I've listened to 'Leave Me Alone' around 7 times. I'm not so sure I agree with the Daughter distaste so far. I'm only just getting into this band, so I'm not fully aware of how it compares to their others, but this seems like a solid little record. Savages will need a little more time, I reckon. It didn't really stand out to me, but their first album took a minute to grow on me, so maybe that's just my relationship with this band. Ty Segall speaks for himself; I fucking love it.
Ty Segall has only been played once, Hinds seven, but they're tied right now.

Im one of the biggest Ty Segall fluffer out there, and Emotional Muggers won't be my AOTM. It's fine, I like it, but there's some stuff I know in forcing myself to like just cuz it's him. Not a solid front to back album, but with the amount of material the guy continues to pump out, it's pretty unrealistic to want EVERYTHING to be great.
Also, for anyone going to see him live on the current tour, be prepared for a bit of s different take on a Ty Segall show. All I'm gonna say without spoiling it.
Anderson Paak and Daughter are the two albums leading for me. I really loved hinds and Blackstar also. It's gonna be a tough month. Mostly still just waiting for wet.
do we pronounce the period in Anderson .Paak's name and if not, why is it there?
"So that dot just represents detail. There have been years where people weren’t really paying attention—to me or anything else, and I was doing the same. I wasn’t paying any attention to what I was doing, I didn’t really have any focus. So now that dot is like a reminder to always pay attention to detail."

Thanks for the insight. I've been wondering about that for a few months now. The other I noticed day that Spotify doesn't put the period there. Guess that just goes to show how few quacks they give.

How do I make the picture 500x500 again?
When you google search an image you can specify the size you want in search tools > size. Or after writing up your post preview it then go back to BBCode and a percentage size will appear next to the image url, then adjust accordingly. Really digging this btw, been listening to this on repeat this morning

So if Sigur Ros and Phantogram fucked each other they would have a girl, and that girl would be Daughter. This is a phenomenal album and I'm not even done yet.
