For what it's worth, I agree that this month was a monster. I pretty much feel like all the votes are justified . . . Well, except for Weezer. (Son of a Beek)
Both ANOHNI and James Blake are AOTY worthy in my opinion. I've only had them both for the day, but I've been going back and forth on them all day. Definitely among my favorite stuff so far this year.
Can someone do me a solid and explain the following bands/albums to me? I don't want to clutter Now Playing with chatting, but I'm seeing these albums all over and I could use a little assistance before I start going download-crazy.
Head Wound City ANOHNI White Lung James Blake Kaytranada
I know a little about James Blake and White Lung, but assume I know nothing about anything.

Listening to James Blake is like gently falling asleep in God's vagina. I'd describe his music as like an electronic Bon Iver; they are similar in terms of quality, beauty, and falsetto (and they have a song together on the new album). He has a penchant for interesting-without-being-gimmicky vocal manipulation and the bass in his music sits perfectly in the mix so that it becomes a standout feature without being overpowering. Definitely an artist worthy of listening to in a dark room with good headphones.

Kaytranada is a hip hop producer who has a similar style to J Dilla and Fly Lo, the new album has features from BadBadNotGood and Anderson .Paak among other artists like Craig David and Vic Mensa and someone I really like, Phonte. Definitely recommend it based on your avatar bruh

ANOHNI is kinda hard to describe, but it's an interesting vocalist singing over Hudson Mohawke and Oneohtrix Point Never produced electronic beats. The themes are also all pretty political. Probably my second of third favorite album of the year so far.
White Lung was a great, super-fast and very well-produced punk band but now they sort of sound like Dum Dum Girls. Head Wound City is a grindcore band that has Nick Zinner of the YYYs in it. Neither of these bands are like gently falling asleep in God's vagina.

Haha. I was coming to say Head Wound City is more experimental hardcore. In addition to Nick, it has the rhythm section from The Locust and one singer and guitarist from The Blood Brothers not that I know if either of those names mean anything to you. It's great stuff and loud as fuck.
I think if your into the James Blake album, you could easily be into Anohni.
Edit: I put on both albums back to back yesterday. My wife asked if I had one album on repeat and she couldn't take everything sounding the same for so long. After explaining the situation, I tried to change the mood with Death Grips, but that lasted about 2 minutes before she put her foot down. She dug Kaytranada, though.

I stand by my vote. That album is killer. LA Girlz, California Kids and King of the World are some of the best songs Weezer has ever made
