Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I get the whole "let's find out what the Inforoo consensus is for top albums of the year" thing, but I don't like it turning into a competition. it just seems like a whole lot of effort for something that could be fairly easy to predict. That and I hate the "Album vs Album" format. Everyone make a list. Score each album accordingly on each list. Done.
We love lists right?
we can do both
in fact this method is more up my alley than the bracket. i'll coordinate at year's end.

Now you're part of the problem. You should create a poll and see what's worse: Tournaments, Drafts, or Lists . . . or Polls.

I think this should be resolved in a bracket format

Lists have been an Inforoo staple since I've been around here. They're a right of passage, as are polls. I would create a poll on the subject in which you speak, but the word "Draft" would have to be in the title, causing me to cringe at the very thought.
Cokes, thank you for proposing a solution. To hell with the rest of you.
I'm not sure why there is an issue with the end of the year tournament. The tournament is a lot of fun for the 50 or so people who take part in it. It has very little to no bearing on the final monthly tallies of albums.
The argument is that having a tournament will persuade voters to vote for an album to either A.) Get it to at least two votes so that it at least may make the tournament via end of year vote in, B.) Get to at least three votes so that it automatically makes the tournament, or C.) Get as many votes as possible so it gets a better seeding for the tournament. I just think that is ridiculous and hardly anyone actually does this.
My arguments for the tournament is that tournament or not, people will always struggle to choose between picking the obscure personal favorite album and the more popular choice album that they like almost as much. It's natural for people to want to pick a winner. You want to feel like your album won the month, or you want it to beat out another popular album that you don't like. The only way to stop this from happening is to eliminate the end of month tallying, which no one wants to do.

ta da
I'm not sure why we are trying to fix something that isn't broken. Inforoo has been doing tournament brackets for years. I took over the Coachella vs Bonnaroo March Madness tournament back in 2010, and people loved it then and still love similar tournaments now.
If you are proposing doing both methods, a tournament and a list, then that sounds good and I'm game for both. If you are suggesting we get rid of the tournament that 50+ people enjoy because of a few dissenters, then I whole-heartedly disagree.

This is inforoo. People complain about everything, no matter how pointless.
Sorry, I forgot that LD does the tournament and you were saying you would do the list. I was thinking you were doing the tournament and wanted to get rid of it for a list instead

This conversation is really uninteresting to me. I just use this thread as a sounding board to try new albums.
King Gizzard would have gotten my April vote if I'd been keeping up then. That album rules.
Radiohead, James Blake and Kaytranada are great. Skepta and Death Grips are both pretty good. Haven't listened to White Lung or Modern Baseball yet. So much good music right now. wtf.

Originally I thought Radiohead was easily going to be the best album this month, but this Chance album is really great. Same Drugs might be my favorite song of the year so far
I really wish that all artists were on board with the same music streaming format. This whole thing where one artist only streams on Tidal and another only on Apple Music and others on Spotify and others won't allow streaming at all. I'm not going to buy the full album without being able to hear it first, that's just the world we live in today. And I'm not going to torrent or "steal" the music because I don't want viruses and that's why I pay for Spotify Premium in the first place. It's just frustrating for the average user.

I've actually been considering switching from Spotify to Apple Music for this reason. Thus far, the TIDAL exclusivity doesn't last too long, and Apple Music gets way more exclusives than Spotify.

I really hate capitalism sometimes. True, all this competition is bringing down the price to an extent, but it brought about all this exclusive BS.

Next time you buy a new computer, keep your old one for torrenting.
But honestly, even if you subscribe to all streaming formats, that's a pretty good bargain.

I just wish people would stop the streaming / selling via iTunes model altogether.
All I want is the option to purchase a HQ (I prefer .wav) digital copy of your album. I don't want to stream it and I don't want to purchase via iTunes.
New Sepalcure album out too, gahhhhhhh too much good stuff this month. Also haven't seen enough love for Nothing's new album on this board.
Not feeling Radiohead like everyone else seems to be. True Love Waits is a great song, but the rest is subpar for me. It'll probably translate well live, but I feel like I'm listening to Radiohead try to be Spiritualized, and it's not doing it for me.
Oh hey, Car Seat Headrest. Your albums to this point have been nothing to write home about (if you catch my drift). I'm guessing you figured all this out on Teens Of Denial. Congrats on being (at the very least) an honorable mention.

Still need to listen to it. Thanks for the reminder.
