I have enjoyed Michael Kiwanuka's album the most, so far. Maxwell and Blood Orange are not far behind. Maxwell's album is great after several listening sessions for a mainstream R&B album.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Wait, are we considering Blood Orange to be June or July?
If Blood Orange is July, then only Frank Ocean is going to be able to bump it off the top for me.

It might be June. It was released so late in the month, it may just feel like a July release. My bad!

Thanks for bringing Kiwanuka to my attention- also enjoying it more than anything else this month
So, this Clams Casino album is mostly pretty bad. I usually only like his production and ignore the features, so maybe I need to just listen to the instrumental version. Even these instrumentals aren't really doing it for me.
The more I listen to ScHoolboy Q, the less excited I get about the album. I still think it deserves an honorable mention, but not a vote from me. And Sara Watkins is great for what it is, but I also don't really want to give it my vote. Other decent albums on my short list are Badbadnotgood, Michael Kiwanuka (which is getting better with listens), and Shura. I don't love The Avalanches, Clams Casino, or Maxwell.
I guess what I'm saying is that I am really hoping something comes along to win my vote. I'm still looking at you, Frank Ocean.

Yeah, it's still leading so far, but I'm hoping for something better.

Haven't listened yet, but was considering going to his show at Smartbar the Friday of P4K Fest and glad I decided to skip out now.
If you're a Tim Hecker type of person, do yourself a favor and check out the new Ian William Craig album, Centres. It's pretty incredible, imo. I've only made it through Jamilla Woods debut once but I'm loving it too.
I was worried that July was gonna be an off month. Glad it isn't. I already have too many contenders and I really haven't started listening to a lot yet.
I don't understand why Gucci is so loved. He's just an outrageous character and it's his first album since his release so everyone is riding his dick.
I listened to the album in full this morning. I will probably never listen again. His earlier work was better but I always found his stuff more comical than anything.
