check this out if you like the kinda whispy/ghostlike vocals of warpaint sung in monotone over post-punk and kraut-funk sounds. good stuff.
it reminds me of proccupations, joy division, grace slick, and kraftwerk stuck in a blender and topped with a bit of disconnected eeriness. it's pretty rad. plus it was all recorded in single takes on an 8track tascam.
The official album version? Last I checked the leaked version was of an iffy quality and had Facebook bleeps and bloops throughout it. That was yesterday though.

I either didn't see that post on Now Playing or forgot to bookmark it for later because that sounds nice.

I'd recommend reading this article, gives some good insight about the use of numbers and the conceptualization of the album. Also really interesting background on how he got some of the sounds on the album - makes you realize that creating sounds and tones is really the bread and butter of any successful musician these days, not just playing an instrument well.
Definitely some underlying threads of religion, and a movement away from the place worship of BIBI.
Can we just go ahead and give this album September's title, because it's easily going to win. Up there with Blonde for AOTY for me right now.

About halfway through "33 GOD" at Eaux Claires I more or less realized that nothing was going to touch this one for me this year.
That said, the leak that's out there right now is completely shit in terms of quality. Even the version that's floating around which is supposedly 320 kbps is really just the shitty 128 kbps version, transcoded. I listened for a few minutes and had to switch it off. Like listening while your ears were packed with steel wool.
I'm not so much a stickler on quality, my laptop's sound card is pretty basic and my headphones are meh anyhow.
This album definitely gripped me right off the bat. Took me awhile to get into the second record, but this is instant top of the list for me
Angel Olsen is probably the only album in week 1 that will make my September top 10. Isaiah Rashad might sneak in, but I doubt it. And it's going to take something massive to knock Angel off my vote for the month.
My early prediction is that Angel Olsen, Wilco, and Bon Iver will be my top three in some order. Five others that will likely make the list are Jack White, MIA, Regina Spektor, Warpaint, and S U R V I V E.
Edit: I'd also like to say that I had forgotten how great of an album Burn Your Fire for No Witness is and I think that I am in love with Angel Olsen. As in, I want to marry her and start a family.

Quoting myself here, but needed to point out something related to this post.
I got my ears lowered today and my stylist changed her hair since the last time I was there. I always thought she was cute because of her style and tats. Anyway, her hair is now black and has short bangs. I swear she looks just like Angel Olsen now. If she didn't have a live in boyfriend, I'd have totally asked her out

New Against Me is up at NPR - halfway through its much poppier than their last album. Not necessarily a bad thing although I normally prefer their grittier stuff. Can't fault Laura for being in a better place. Excited to get to know the record.
Also saw on reddit that MIA leaked but haven't gone digging for it yet.
