This month was ridiculous. My top 3 may all end up in my top ten for 2016. "29 #Strafford APTS" is such an incredibly good song. And the rest are all albums I'll come back to, for sure.

Actually just watched the Fantano review before checking this thread. I agreed with him mostly (doesn't happen much). I've listened to the album a few times and kept expecting something to click because of how much praise it's getting, but that never happened. It feels very amateurish and incoherent (in a bad way).
1. Nicolas Jaar || Sirens 2. Bon Iver - 22, A Million 3. Klangstof - Close Eyes To Exit 4. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Skeleton Tree 5. Tycho - Epoch 6. Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition 7. Angel Olsen - My Woman 8. Banks - The Altar 9. Francis And The Lights - Farewell, Starlite 10. The Growlers - City Club
I could see Danny climbing this list as time goes on. Haven't listened to Solange or Jenny Hval yet but I don't think I'm going to get around to them by Friday.
I feel super unprepared to make a vote tomorrow, SOS. So many good releases that I appreciate in such diverse ways. And I haven't even listened to all that I know I ought to have before voting. Eeeeep
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Right now, pretty sure it is between Bon and Angel and Nico. But I keep going back to the Banks too. Haven't given Solange a proper listen yet. Nick Cave is super talented but this album hasn't clicked w me, yet

Yeah, I'm seriously behind too. Many albums I've only heard once or twice, some I haven't even got to yet. Not even sure in which direction to vote.

HM: Angel Olsen| MY WOMAN
This album left on a strong impression on me, and since this is my first time voting, I feel compelled to write up a brief analysis. First and foremost, this is a concept album that focuses rather bluntly on the complications of mental illness. It's dark and emotionally exhausting, but in a hauntingly beautiful way. Holding true to the album title, the opening track (appropriately named "Anxiety") sets the tone for the rest of the album. From start to finish, the theme of crippling anxiety is pervasive and relentless. The instrumentation, lyrics, and vocals combine to effectively capture the overwhelming feelings of fear, self-doubt, and dissatisfaction commonly associated with mental illness. My favorite song is the multi-part, 11-minute "Memory", which unmistakably represents the musical and emotional climax of the album. The first part of the song slowly and deliberately maneuvers through feelings of failure and unfulfillment. After about 3 minutes, the vocals and guitars recede and give way to a percussion transition. This transition steadily builds in tempo and intensity, adding layers of instrumentation along the way, until it finally erupts in a cathartic release that is simultaneously tragic and uplifting. Definitely one of my favorite songs to be released this year.
During my first listen of Hval I was slightly distracted and just didn't allow for a full focus on the album as I listened.... But I am giving it a second, more concerted listen now, while in the right mood and head space for consumption of it - I'm almost all the way through, and I think this might be a game changer for me. Definite contender for the month title now.

Yep. As someone who usually squeaks in right at the deadline I feel ya. Still haven't made up my mind and some first listens late last night have propelled themselves into the running.

Most of Inforoo will jerk off to Goat and Beck, Rummy and I will probably vote for Conor Oberst or some other dippy singer-songwriter shit, and Dave and GL will vote for some shit I've never heard of and will never listen to.

I expect I'll either end up in camp Beck or camp LOUD, since there's no jangly alternative, hip-hop, or female singer-songwriters that I know I'll like
