Heads up: The Avalanches Releasing New Music Today
Sixteen years after releasing their classic debut album, Since I Left You, the Avalanches are back. Zane Lowe announced on his Beats 1 show today that the group will release new music later today. He said, “Coming up at some point in the next 12 hours, new music will emerge and you will hear the first new interview with Tony [Di Blasi] and Robbie [Chater] aka the Avalanches.” He then announced on Twitter that the interview will air on Beats 1 at midnight tonight–that’s June 2 at 12:00 a.m.
Zane Lowe’s announcement follows the Avalanches’ April resurgence, which began when they updated their social media accounts with an image of a gold butterfly on black fabric (as seen above). They then announced some festival dates, including stops at Primavera Sound and Field Day. The next month, the Avalanches shared the teaser video “Since They Left Us,” which featured appearances from Father John Misty, Ariel Pink, Danny Brown, and more. Shortly after the video, they opened a phone hotline where fans could hear “Subways.”
new Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds album, Skeleton Tree, out September 9, with an accompanying film One More Time With Feeling directed by Andrew Dominik out September 8.

New Shura single is my favorite by her so far, she channels the Blood Orange, Haim style of synthpop
Pitchfork compared Sui Zhen to PC Music's QT the other day, but this song sounds like a lost track from the Drive soundtrack, only it's refreshingly crisp sounding compared to most chillwave
