After seeing many lineup releases, I've come to the conclusion that nothing pleases any of you.
wayhome and levitation are solid. im one of the few who hasnt been shitting all over the bonnaroo lineup. jazzfest and sxsw are always amazing. fun fun fun has been strong a few years in a row. Lock'n did well for themselves. im sure there are others. it's not that everything is bad, i just dont like this and sadly this is what i wanted to go to most.
I'm going to Gov Ball, but only because its closer. Osheaga's line, two headliners aside, is easily better.
I'm not sure of that for me, personally. I keep wanting to commit to Osheaga and then get FOMO over Gov Ball.
Osheaga is significantly cheaper both in terms of ticket prices and accommodations. Osheaga is a couple hours further away for me, but the choice is not hard. I'm not a huge rap guy, especially when it comes to seeing live performances, so that's also a pretty big factor in my choosing Osheaga over Gov Ball.
Also, you say that Radiohead does nothing for your friend...so maybe it's time to start looking for some new friends
"We've been trying to get them since the first year, so it's really exciting," beams founder and VP of Concerts and Events at Evenko, Nick Farkas.
"We'd had discussions with Radiohead in previous years, but we never got our hopes up - even this year we didn't. They confirmed pretty early on in the game (last September), so to have that giant piece in place took a lot of pressure off. There was a lot of high-fiving in the office that day."
According to Farkas, there will still be a "second wave" of artists to be announced as they get closer to the festival kick off.
"We're pretty much done at the top, but we've got a few spots we can play around with. he says. We're keeping our eyes open to anything that might come together late, but 90% of the lineup is done."
Okay so someone had to do it. This year's poster has 99 artists, while last year's had 116, so we're looking at roughly 17 artists left to be added. Can't wait for the rumors and hype trains to start again. All aboard!
question: why exactly do people on here hate Lana so much? if its because of the crowd that she draws to fests? if its because of the 14 year olds in flower crowns obnoxiously smoking cigarettes i get it, but i personally think she is a very talented and original artist. don't think she's quite HLer worthy though.
That + people perceive her as a inauthentic industry plant.
Any opinions on a Gold or Platinum pass for this? With the exchange rate it's awfully tempting, especially since I'll likely wander aimlessly and get lost the first day.
With the exchange, the gold is a no brainer. Good viewing for the "main" main stage, bathrooms, food etc. The platinum... gets you nothing on the other side of the fest except a viewing area at the larger stage (no VIP bathrooms over there, big fail, or I'd probably throw down for it), some backstage access - that value depends on you. The shuttle isn't a bad thing. The ground are pretty easy to navigate, the dual main stages make it even easier.
Is this lineup really that different from the previous ones, or did all of you just have ridiculous expectations?
I think everyone always has ridiculous expectations about every festival before the announce. This fits well with previous years, imo, except Radiohead is a very good headliner for Osh. The under is always strong.
My best friend and I have been in discussions for the last 4 hours - we are deciding between Gov Ball and Osheaga. He's a guy for whom Radiohead does not do much. I'm legit torn.
What happens when Panorama slays?
And what happens if it doesn't? And I mean, happen at all. Considering there's no info still, I wonder if it really will. There are a other few festivals I'm wondering about - the new America rocks in Rhode Island was supposed to announce in Jan, Kaboo announced a few acts, but nothing else yet... Yes, Goldenvoice has clout, but that's a lot of logistics to set up in a short time.

Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
That is not exactly true, they had a Toronto date but the stage collapsed the day of the show killing a crew member, so the show was cancelled.
I forgot about this, but good call.
Still surprised they would only play Montreal this go around if they are indeed going to announce a proper tour.
They could still fit Toronto in between Thursday at Lolla and Osheaga. Even so, my impression has always been that even their proper tours regularly miss cities here and there.

The article that Phi posted stated Oshega would be their only Canadian tour stop though.

Looks like this year will be my first year heading to Osheaga (and Canada as a matter of fact)! Not sure if this has been answered but does this fest do late nights, and if not at the festival, do they do late nights after shows like GovBall or Coachella does?

yes they have both official and unofficial after parties which are typically announced a couple months before the festival.
