With Sting...but, I have no problem with Sting. Desert Rose is a pretty song.
However, Gabriel back in the states has me so excited!!! I thought it'd be a long time before I got to see him again. He's coming to Columbus too, so close to me. Don't know why I'm creating a thread, I'm just really excited. If there is already a Gabriel thread buried somewhere then please lock this up.

If I was one to get my hopes up unreasonably, I'd suggest they start their tour at Roo......but I'm not going to do that to myself.
Yeah, Gabriel is not really a festival guy anymore. I would hope Roo at least tried for him though, he puts on one hell of a show with great visuals. It'll be interesting to see what he sets up for a dual headlining tour.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. Should be interesting though:
For the shows fans can expect the two artists to be delving into each other’s catalogues to choose songs to perform together and will be doing their own solo slots.
“The interesting thing for me is what happens to our songs when they are juxtaposed with each other’s songs. What I do will change what he does and vice-versa. The songs we trade and the songs that we sing together will have an unexpected result, we hope”, says Sting, whilst Peter adds “For me it’s partly what sounds good in that present incarnation balanced with what people want to hear. You want to try and get both sides and throw in something unfamiliar as well as the hits”.
I really wish the were coming to Roo or at least closer to Pittsburgh than Columbus. Peter Gabriel is at the top of my list of artists I love but haven't seen.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. It seems like it won't be a regular Gabriel show. I feel like they are going to highlight a bunch of Sting too. Of course, I still got my tickets for the Cbus show though. It should still be interesting. I'm really hoping for a "real"(not covers, or reworking old material) album release and tour sometime in the near future. He hasn't done that since Up(2002?). Seeing him do So was pretty special on his last tour though. He had a whole section of more deeper and darker tracks too. I feel like this will be featuring more of the "Hits" with Sting. I'm fine with that since it will be a different take on them.
New Gabriel Single "I'm Amazing" iTunes | Google Play | Spotify | Tidal
Here's his thought on it: “I wrote a song a few years back – ‘I’m Amazing’, which was, in part, inspired by Muhammad Ali’s life and struggles and at the time of his death, when so many people are celebrating his life and thinking about all he achieved, it seemed the right time to release it.” – Peter Gabriel
The song is growing on me more and more. It's just nice to hear original tracks by him again.

Did you catch that tour?
Yes, I saw the first show of the tour in Columbus. I enjoyed it a bunch. Saw some Gabriel songs I never heard live before and they even teased a Gabriel Era Genesis song before they went into Message in a Bottle. Hearing Sting sing Shock the Monkey was pretty cool too. Gabriel opened the show with Rhythm of Heat, which gave me goosebumps. Another song which I never heard live was Darkness which was fantastic as well. It seems like it was fire versus ice the whole night. Lots of Red lights and such for Gabriel tunes and Blue for Sting. It was a fantastic show if you like Gabriel, Sting, or both. I still would rather have another Gabriel solo tour, but this was something different. They Actually played more Gabriel songs than Sting songs, which surprised me. I'm not really a huge Sting fan, but he was fantastic. They also had a blend of awesome musicians from both their bands(Tony Levin and others, too many to list). The back and forth thing didn't really work at times, but when it did it was great. Overall a wonderful experience.
P.S. I went nuts when they teased Genesis. I thought we were getting the whole song, which would have been a huge treat. Teasing it was good enough as it blended into Message in a Bottle. I didn't expect any Gabriel era Genesis. I really nerded out at that part in the show.

Yeah, thanks for the review. I had to be in Denver for work around the time of their show there and I hoped it would work out to be then, but it didn't. I would rather see Peter Gabriel solo anyway, so I'm hoping he'll include some southern dates next time.
