I can't wait to overreact to the outcome of Tennessee's game this week...
Is it gonna be an overreaction at this point though?
Update: I'll go first. Tennessee played like crap and let Ohio be competitive for almost the entire game. Not Ohio State. Ohio. The fucking Bobcats. Let's unleash the conspiracy theory on this. A guy at work told me this a month or two ago, and I discounted it as talk radio bullshit. He said he knew a guy that is close to the program. The rumor is that all the investigations into institutional controls at the University are more intense than people think. I give this some credence with Jimmy Cheek, UT's chancellor, stepping down over the summer and Dave Hart, UT's athletic director, announcing he will retire next summer and the KPD officer who was the football team liaison being reassigned and the courtesy call policy they have had with the University being looked at. It just seems like an awful lot of stuff all at once. Where this gets more interesting is the guy's source said that Jones will likely be shown the door at the end of the season due to all this. They are just keeping him around so that Tennessee doesn't end up in another Dooley situation where we are trying to hire a coach at a shit time of year. Like I said, I blew it off completely despite the coworker being generally level headed, but I can't help but get those creeping doubts now that Tennessee is playing down this year so far because Jones is essentially a lame duck coach waiting to get fired.
TL:DR, for those of you who had week three in the "when will Dave lose it this season?" poll, congrats.
Lastly, Cam Sutton is going to be out an extended period per Jones. Fuck.

Florida? The same team that beat the UMass juggernaut 24-7?
I guess I need to be fair, when the Minutemen walk into the Swamp the Gators are lucky that they don't cower in fear. Kudos to Florida for that outstanding victory.
And Tennessee somehow jumps three spots in the Coaches Poll with that win. Amazing.
Edit: And one in the AP.
The polls are dumb. I kind of do my own poll every week and I gotta say that after #8 this week. I struggled to put anyone else in the top 10 that I felt deserved it.

I can totally see that. I'm really dubious of Tennessee's spot, but it's not like there's a ton of teams that are looking really hot in the bottom part of the 25.

Right now you're just moving up because others are losing. It seems like this discussion is held every year. We say these polls don't matter and they really don't, but it gives us something to talk about. It will all work out in the end. The polls are confused on who's better between Clemson and Louisville. We'll find that out soon.

Ok, so Florida's qb is "most likely" out not certainly out. I always take those more as gamesmanship to where the other teams defense prepares for two qb's rather than one.
In related news, Austin Appleby, the second string qb for Florida, had a tweet from a couple years ago surface where he and his friend dressed as Castro and Bin Laden for Halloween. Spoiler alert: Appleby wasn't the one holding a cigar. College sports is great sometimes.
Eat shit and die, Penn State. There continued defense of Joe Pa is disgusting. It's tragic to lose your heroes but the man protected a child rapist for decades. It's completely atrocious to celebrate him. It's really upsetting they just won't let his memory fade.

Seems a bit unnecessary to call out UF for not beating up on UMass. Clemson, UT, and UGA have all had closer struggles this season with similar caliber programs. It happens.
I doubt Florida keeps the streak going on Saturday against UT. Playing in Neyland + having to go to the backup QB doesn't like a winning recipe.

I generally avoid the discussion of conspiracy theories. I'll take a wait and see approach there.
The team isn't that good. Fortunately, neither is the SEC East as a whole. We'll know more about where we stand after next weekend.
Speaking of next weekend, with GameDay, Checker Neyland, all the hype, and Del Rio's injury, I am more nervous about the game than I was before. All signs point to Appleby having his Heisman coming-out party at Neyland on Saturday.
I don't know what deity I pissed off to be cursed to follow this team for all eternity. GBO!

This was in reference to Sang saying something about Florida being the only SEC East team that hadn't shown any weaknesses yet. I only pointed out that they struggled with UMass.

I hate to relate to Sang, but I can't help it here. With the amount of returning starters the team has this season, it feels like they should at least be as good as last season, but, like you said, we seem to be worse. It just doesn't make sense to me. That may just be the way it is though.
I can see where you're coming from regarding Saturday. I saw an article yesterday about how "Appleby didn't come to Florida to be a backup". It's tailor made to be the kind of story ESPN eats up, and Tennessee does love to be the team to get stories rolling.

Also, Fuck Florida.
They have the normal (lately) Fla weakness, no offense. Their defense is great, as usual.

Like I said before your team is like Clemson 5+ years ago. Also our teams this year seem to play down to the competition. To be fair though, I believe Troy and App St are pretty good on their level, so if you play like crap against them you're going to be in a fight. I have no idea about Ohio and I didn't watch any of that game.
Tennessee opened as an 8.5 point favorite. What does Vegas see that I don't?
You get 3 points for having home field advantage and UF is having to turn to a backup QB who didn't exactly set the world on fire at Purdue (2-9 record with 19 TD's to 19 INT's). That swings at least two points. On a neutral field assuming both teams have all of the key players, UT would prob be a field goal favorite.
It makes sense. I root for Florida and would love to see them pull it off, but I would be borderline shocked if it happened.
